For a lot of communities, there is some tension between the police force and some of the members in that community. There can be complaints of this or that going wrong, situations being handled unfairly, and countless other complaints. But nothing brings a community together quite like a dance party, for a moment a good song and a dance floor can make people forget about their differences and just enjoy some music. And what happened in this Texas community was just that.

One evening, the local Texas police were called to a neighborhood for a noise complaint. The location happened to be the site where the local dance group Next Generation Dance Crew practice, hang out, and of course dance. Most of the kids in the dance crew thought that they were in trouble or were going to have to leave for the night, but one of the officers had different plans.

Instead of breaking up the part, he called out to the owner, Leslie Sapp, to play a song and began salsa dancing.

For a moment he simply moves his feet to the rhythm, then he adds a few turns, showing all the young kids in the group how it’s done. He gets a little more comfortable and struts his stuff to the catchy song and eventually invited Sapp’s daughter onto the dance floor. He shows her how to salsa, moving her feet, spinning, and just moving to the rhythm. The pair has control over the dance floor before the officer’s moves inspire others to get on the floor.

Sapp, also the founder of the group was surprised the officer joined in. She captured her daughter and him on video and posted it to Facebook with the caption “So cool of him.”Sapp founded Next generation Dance Crew with the intention of inspiring and encouraging youth to express themselves through dance as well as chase their dreams. Whats more inspiring than seeing one of Texas’s finest getting down to some salsa music?

“There is a lot of negativity in the world and when it comes to cops, and he broke that stereotype,” Sapp said in an interview. “He didn’t have to take his time to do that and could have just gone in and shut it down.” No word yet, from the neighbor who called in the noise complaint. Lets just assume once he saw the cops having a good time, they decided to join in too.
