A Lip Sync Battle was initiated by the K9s4Cops.org Facebook page.

Cops and their K9 joined the challenge and swarmed social media with their own Lip Sync versions of their song of choice.

But one stood out from the rest.

He chose a worship song.

Police Chief Jason Hepler from Hollywood, Alabama, made his own music video with MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine.”

Together with his K9 companion, Hepler sang his own rendition of the popular Christian song.

It’s helped him in his career.

The song is special to Hepler.

“‘I Can Only Imagine’ is a song that has been there for me in some of my darkest hours,” he shared in an interview. “When I was at the lowest points whether caused by bad decisions or because of things I was dealing with seeing from work, this song would be my go-to when I needed some uplifting,” he added.

K9 Fox also joined the video.

Officer Hepler mentioned that his partner has been a great asset to their department since his arrival.

Fox’s service to the community has been phenomenal. “K9 Fox is an amazing partner, pretty much his entire life has been of service,” he said.

A proud man of faith, Hepler wanted to make sure that he did the song “justice.”

He was nervous to share the video. But after a member of his church, Mercy Temple Church of God in Pisgah, saw the video and said they loved it, he finally got the courage to share the awesome footage.

Since then, it has gone viral.

One mom, in particular, loved it.

When the songwriter’s mother, Dell Millard Duncan, saw the video, she was so impressed and wanted to reach out to Hepler with her input.

“You did great! That was my son Bart Millard that wrote the song and sings it.” Duncan said. “God has truly blessed him and many others through this song he wrote in 1994. So proud of him and where God has taken him. God bless and thank you for serving that we might have freedom every day,” she added.
