The judges on America’s Got Talent have seen a whole lot of piano players come across their stage.
While many of these players are talented, it’s hard for contestants to find a way to stand out while playing the piano. It’s just been done too many times before.
Patrizio Ratto knew that he would have to do something special to stand out as a piano player, and he figured out the perfect way to do it!
In a filmed piece that aired before his audition, the Italian man said that he loved playing classical music.
“I’m inspired by the classical composter, and one of my biggest inspirations is Beethoven,” Ratto said.
After the filmed piece, Ratto began his audition. He sat down in front of his piano and started playing Beethoven’s “Fur Elise.”
When the judges realized Ratto was playing Beethoven, they didn’t try to hide their boredom. Simon made one of his classic ‘I’m about to fall asleep’ faces.
But then, the music changed. A techno beat started playing over the loudspeakers, and Ratto stood and kicked back his piano bench. Then, he began performing the most incredible dance routine!
Ratto performed an amazing dance to a techno version of “Fur Elise.” He did his own version of the robot, and he also showed off incredible core control as he danced across the AGT stage.
The judges and the audience were all blown away. They loved the twist in Ratto’s performance!
At the end of his audition, Ratto got a standing ovation. All four judges quickly decided to send him to the next round.
“We’ve never seen anything like that,” Howie Mandel said. “What a great mixture of two art forms that don’t really go together, and you made it seamless.”
Simon also loved Ratto’s performance. He gave the competitor some incredible praise.
“Without people like you, we don’t have a show,” Simon said. “My dogs don’t get fed, and I’m unhappy. But you made me so happy, it was incredible and I’ll always remember this moment.”
Ratto was so excited that his audition went well. He shared his excitement on his Facebook page.

Before finding success on AGT, Ratto shared videos of his piano and dance performances on his YouTube page. He has done some amazing performances throughout the years, including this great Halloween themed piano-dance video.
Ratto also shared a hilarious Tetris-themed performance! He even dressed up like a Tetris piece for the video.
