The beauty of music is the ability for so many people to have their own takes, versions, and covers of it. The different perspectives people have will influence and color their music in ways that are astonishing and beautiful for others. This cover of “Fight Song” is a perfect example of that.

Rachel Platten released the song in 2015 and saw it blossom into a huge success. Reaching number 6 on the Billboard Top 100 and number 1 on Adult Contemporary music, millions of people have heard the song and loved it.
“‘Fight Song’ was inspired by a lot of experiences that were hurting me and that were making me feel like maybe I didn’t have a chance in this industry. I wrote it because I needed to remind myself that I believed in myself. No matter what, I still was gonna make music, even if it was on a small scale. Even if it was just for me.” [Wikipedia]

The quickly sum up their work, when The Piano Guys decide to cover a song, they do a good job! If you want to have your heartstrings pulled at, listening to their cover of “Fight Song” is well worth your time.
The entire song is covered as a “Scottish” version.
While there are no lyrics to their cover, they add their own spin that makes it special. Using bagpipes, cinematography from Scotland and some well placed “HUA’s” from some Scotlanders, the powerful feel of the song is captured well.
Opening up with stunning landscape views, The Piano Guys start their song with snare drums and bagpipes.
Soon, the snares are backed by keys and the song takes off in the familiar melody of Rachel Platten’s hit. Using keys, a cello, and a host of other instruments, the spirit of the song can’t help but inspire you and lift your spirits.
After a few of the verses and the chorus, the skills of the pianist and cellist shows through.
Fluttering through the notes, it is almost as if there are little butterflies floating through each piece of the melody. After the bridge of the song sweeps in, everything gets quiet for a moment – suddenly, the chorus sweeps in again and makes you want to leap from your chair with passion and joy!
The Piano Guys wanted to share the message of inspiration across the world.
Knowing that there is purpose in struggle, the group released their cover with a deep understanding of its message.
When we first heard Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” we were inspired by its message. In a world where we too often talk about our differences, we have at least one thing in common. We all struggle. Not in the same way, nor at the same level, but we all want a fighting chance. And we all share in one gift: The will to make the most of our lives. To take what we’ve been given and turn it into something better could be considered the sentient measuring stick of success. But to do so seldom is simple and more often requires we fight. Not against each other. But against the current threatening to drown the ambition in us.
