Pianist With No Arms Wins Got Talent

April 23rd, 2019

The Got Talent series allows people from all around the world to showcase their amazing talents. Many of them have overcome obstacles in order to pursue their dreams. Others simply aren’t letting difficult circumstances get in the way.

That’s how it’s been for Alberta “Lorelai” Mosnegutu, the 2017 winner of Romania’s Got Talent. Lorelai was 14 years old when she first appeared on the television show and showed off her piano playing skills and her powerful singing voice.

There’s just one thing — Lorelai has no arms.

Instead, she plays the piano with her feet.

During her audition, she climbed up on the platform and stretched out her bare feet, complete with sparkly nail polish on her toes. Then she belted out a song that had the judges in shock. Her song choice was “A Million Stars” by Luminata Anghel.

Lorelai is also shorter than average because her disability also extends to her legs. She has no femurs, so her legs are only half as long as the average leg.

Lorelai’s voice is as powerful as her story.

When she was born, doctors predicted her disability would prevent her from living more than a few days. After her family abandoned her, she was taken in by a social worker, Veronica Parvalescu.

Her childhood was difficult, marked by delays in talking and walking. But, Parvalescu was determined to help the little girl have a good life and encouraged her to build her strength in her feet since she had no hands.

Then, in 2017, she decided to bring her talents to the stage.

Her performance left everyone in tears and earned her a Golden Buzzer from judge Mihaela Radulescu.

“My knees started shaking the moment I saw her cry and not able to wipe away her tears,” said Radulescu. “Then I went to embrace her and realized she could not embrace me in return.”

When Lorelai finished her song, the crowd jumped to its feet, screaming and cheering.

They even started chanting her name: “Lorelai! Lorelai! Lorelai!”

Lorelai went on to win the entire season with her final performance of “Rise Like a Phoenix.” Of course, it wasn’t just her amazing story that inspired people. It was also her unbelievable talent.

It’s hard enough to learn how to play the piano with your hands.

Lorelai does it beautifully with her feet. And of course, she has a voice that moves people to tears.

People everywhere were also touched by her upbeat attitude and excitement about life.

“My mission is to make the world happier through my writing and my songs,” said Lorelai. She said her life motto is “I fall 10 times and I rise 20 times.”

Music isn’t the only talent Lorelai has.

She’s also a painter! Now that she’s known throughout Romania and the world as the winner of Romania’s Got Talent, maybe we’ll also see some of her paintings. Whatever she goes on to do, there’s no doubt that she will go far in life.
