Johan Blohm is a world-known pianist, who was Swedens best-kept secret until an internet clip of him playing made its way to YouTube

Back in 2013, Thejukeboxen posted a video of Blohm playing “Boogie Woogie Piano” with his band The Refreshments to YouTube and broke the internet. When you see him play, you’ll completely understand why it blew up the way it did.

At the beginning of the video, Blohm gets his seat ready before he jumps right in and begins blazing through the keys of the piano. He plays Boogie-Woogie, a style of piano that became popular way back in the late 1920s. The style involves a pianist rapidly playing complex melodies, with nonstop barrages’ of musical notes.

Blohm’s boogie-woogie is up there with some of the greatest of all time, he doesn’t skip beat playing the difficult tune

The magical boogie-woogie by Blohm launched him into the spotlight, leading to a phone call from legendary American music producer, Bruce Swedien, who produced tons of Michael Jackson’s solo albums and has worked with artists like, Paul McCartney, Jerry Lee Lewis, and many more.

Swedien then invited Blohm to his home in Florida, just to get an in-person glimpse of his extraordinary piano technique and unique style.

After debuting The Refreshments at the SXSW Music Festival, John made the trip to Florida and recorded some demos with the icon

It’s easy to see why this video of Blohm shredding his piano lit fire to his career, he makes it look so easy but we ensure you it’s not. There are also brilliant swing dancers cutting a rug to Blohm’s music, and they obviously enjoy it as well.

Blohm moves across his keyboard like a madman, you can hardly even see his fingers they’re moving so darn fast. Toward the end of the performance, he picks it up even more and plays as fast as humanly possible.

People in the crowd clap him on, as Blohm finishes the performance like he’s entranced by the music

The last 30-second of the show is the best, he doesn’t hold back as it comes time for his grand finale. Blohm blasts through the end of the song, playing the last flurry of notes to perfection and stunning the audience.
