Take all your favorite pop songs and mix them together with a passionate conductor and an energetic orchestra.
What have you got? As it turns out, you’ve got yourself a very special night in 2012 hosted by the Singaporean group The Philharmonic Winds.
The audience that gathered at Singapore’s beautiful water-side Esplanade Theater was in for the night of a lifetime.
The impressive orchestra was spread across the entire stage while the players waited patiently to deliver. The conductor was introduced and made his way to the center of the stage, taking his place before the group.
The video from that night captured an astonishing performance.
As the video begins the audience watches eagerly, smiling in anticipation as both conductor and orchestra readies themselves. With a couple flicks of his baton, the cues begin to ring the first notes out into the theater.
All of a sudden, the music begins and the real fun of the night is upon everyone.
The conductor has the group clap the first few beats out.
After that, they energetically launch into a huge a performance, covering Jennifer Lopez’s popular hit “Let’s Get Loud.” Each section of the orchestra takes a turn, offering their own rendition for the pop concert.
The notes pulse across the orchestra, from strings to woodwinds to brass to percussion.
The energy shifts as the orchestra blends their sounds into the next song, “I Got a Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. Softly, they play out the popular melody.
All of a sudden, a man walks out from the middle of the orchestra to the front of the stage next to the conductor.
The stage gets dark and the lights start to flicker in a strobe show of sorts. The orchestra fervently launches into “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO while the man begins to display some very impressive dance moves.
The crowd enthusiastically cheers every part of the show on, fueling the dancer and the orchestra.
Their cries get louder as the dancer starts undressing!
The male dancer reveals another set of clothes, something more casual, and fluidly moves his body to the music and the beat.
The light show continues as the sounds of the orchestra swell and slowly morph into the next song, “Gangnam Style” by PSY.
The dancer takes it away, moving effortlessly at the front of the stage and gaining the affections of the audience. Their cheers and laughter ring out and fill the theater.
The passionate group, The Philharmonic Winds, formed in the year 2000.
They participate in many events “presenting meaningful concerts of high standards.” Each of their shows has a theme. In addition to this all-pop concert they performed, they’ve also embraced the sounds of different cultures and genres of music.
Their talent has no limits and they aspire to become the finest wind orchestra in the Asia-Pacific region.
In support of young talent and dreams, they also have the Philharmonic Youth Winds.
The Philharmonic Winds can be followed across a variety of social media platforms, including their YouTube channel as well as their website.
