You don’t have to be a musician to know that covering “Bohemian Rhapsody” would be no easy feat. The Queen classic is six-minutes long, consists of multiple different sections, and frequently makes charts for being one of the greatest songs ever created.
Many artists have bravely taken on the 1975 hit, and have been successful in producing their own applause-worthy versions. Marc Martel’s solo has over 42 million views on YouTube, while Pentatonix’s video has a whopping 104 million! The Muppets did an amazing job with “Bohemian Rhapsody” as well (yes, The Muppets).
There’s a new cover of Queen’s epic song that might just move to your favorites list. Get ready for “Bohemian Rhapsody” with a bluegrass twist!
The Petersens are a family musical group based out of Branson, Missouri.

The Petersens are made up of six members, including mom Karen, siblings Katie, Ellen, Matt, and Julianne, and also family-friend Emmett. Each person plays a different stringed instrument from the banjo to the unique dobro. The band also mixes in some pretty stunning vocals too.

You can also enjoy The Petersens’ musical creativity right from home.
The group’s YouTube channel has more than 319K subscribers, where they upload videos for fans to enjoy. People around the world have fallen in love with their original songs and spectacular covers, and now, there’s a new one to get all excited about!
The Petersens’ bluegrass version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” is already making a splash online.
In the video, the four siblings share microphones in the middle and begin with Queen’s unforgettable intro. All of them have been gifted with a beautiful voice – so when they sing together it’s like a small choir from up above.
They put a little spin on the ballad section of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The Petersens replace the iconic piano playing with the sounds of their stringed instruments – giving it that bluegrass feel. Matt sings the solo with some backup from his sisters, and the whole combination is divine.
When they arrive at the operatic portion of the song, it’s another awesome blend of talents.
The baby of the family, Julianne, starts out with the whimsical lyrics. But soon her siblings jump in and they completely nail the section together (in their own way).
Three minutes and fifty seconds in they hit the rock section, and do it Petersen-style.
Fans are loving the group’s version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and many have left comments of praise. One person wrote:
“OH MY GOSH, this is seriously one of the very best things EVER!! The harmonies, the bluegrass, everything! Spectacular! And so much fun! I sincerely hope and pray that Freddie is watching this and enjoying every second.”
Another person said:
“Respect. To each and everyone of you. This is a masterpiece. 👏”
Even though they’re skilled musicians, learning the British rock band’s tune wasn’t easy for the group. In the YouTube description they wrote:
“This is without a doubt the hardest song we have ever learned!!! We promised our Patreon community that once we reached a certain goal we would release this video, but we had no idea the challenge that we would be undertaking. Hope you guys enjoy all the crazy parts of this song!”
