What a year it’s been. 2020 did not care at all. It caught everyone by surprise and people all over the world were forced to adapt to survive. It’s been tough and it is not over yet.

The year’s hardships brought out true heroes. And even men and women who made the world a little brighter with small acts of love are considered as beacons of hope and joy.

Take a moment to be grateful.

Acclaimed a capella group, Pentatonix, or PTX, recently released “Thank you“. It’s from their new album, We Need a Little Christmas. And the music video is very much in tune with the album’s theme.

The band says,

“The track and video pay homage to those in and around our lives who have made the past year just a little bit brighter.”

If you have someone who’s done the same, thank them. The year’s been unpredictable.

It’s only been four days since the release and the video’s already got over 2.2 million views and 110k likes (and counting).

A white piano playing the same intro of “Jingle Bells” starts the track. The intro goes,

“Oh Lord, it’s been a year with little joys, and little fears. It’s finally here, Christmas Day. My love, I need some hope. A little faith, a hand to hold.”

Throw snowballs, drink hot chocolate, and open presents. This song is perfect for one of those annual family videos. We’ve made it with a month to go. Let’s hope 2021 is kinder.

While you’re at home celebrating with your loved ones, take the time to reflect and think of those who have lost loved ones this year. Remember those who lost their jobs. Those who cannot travel home due to restrictions.

The music video shows them sitting by a tree, exchanging laughs with presents on hand. It’s truly a positive piece of work and though the song is sentimental, it only serves as a reminder of what we all went through.

A viewer said,

“I’m so thankful this year is about to end and still alive. 2020 is rough but we goin to make it bros.”

He echoes everyone around the globe.

PTX has a snowman, snowball fights, and even a dinner setup. The group is showing us that there’s still so much to be thankful for. So much to celebrate and be happy about. And they’re right!

Another part goes,

“Thank you for your smile, it’s warmer than the fire. Your gentle laughter is sweeter than a choir. I’ll never know the right words to choose, so all I can say, is thank you.”

The lyrics are so heartfelt and sweet.

We often take for granted those who stay by our side day by day. But it is these people who have been supporting us mentally and emotionally. We just didn’t realize it. Well until now. Until this song.

Now if on the way back home, you manage to pass by the less fortunate, or someone who needs help, extend some help. It could be the difference between them having a Christmas to remember or not.

Give them a smile so reassuring and loving that they will no longer the doubt the kindness found in people. They’ll thank you for it.
