Thanksgiving has come and gone, messages of love and gratefulness have been delivered, and bellies are full and surely happy. That can only mean one thing. Christmas is near!
And there’s no better way of welcoming the season than by its traditional hymns.
Everyone’s got a favorite or two. What’s yours?
The One Voice Children’s Choir have now joined in welcoming the season with their rendition of, “O Come, All Ye Faithful”.
True to the season, the video is bright, colorful, and joyous. The choir, dressed in different hues of green, have golden yellow lights in the background to contrast their look. Like a singing Christmas tree!
“Adeste Fideles” is one of the most popular and loved hymns as its lyrics are deeply rooted in Christianity and the very essence of the Christmas narrative. But its origin is unclear.
Names like St. Bonaventure, King John IV of Portugal, John Francis Wade, and even Cisterian monks have all been linked to the writing of the song. So may as well thank all four of these individuals for giving us this festive song.
The One Voice Children’s Choir, on the other hand, was founded in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
They grew and grew, in numbers and popularity, until finally garnering lots of fans and followers for their many renditions of popular classics. These kids range from four to eighteen, all incredibly talented singers.
Venite, venite in Bethlehem.
It’s been another tough year. 2020 proved to be exhausting but 2021 was hardly any different. COVID crippled economies, divided nations, and tore apart families but one thing it cannot do is to take away the spirit of Christmas.
“Adeste fideles læti triumphantes”, latin for, “O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant!” seems to take on a new meaning for everyone fighting to survive amidst the confusion in the world.
Even the way these kids sing, full of cheer with smiles on their faces, seem to lift the spirits. This is the only contagious energy the world needs!
Pure joy on those beautiful faces!
Viewers are all over the performance with praises like,
“That was awesome. This is one of the best Christmas songs around. You guys sang that beautifully. Keep up the hard work.”
“This is so beautiful!!! Omg thank you so much for sharing! I’m glad you guys are in the Christmas spirit, I am too!!! All of these voices are so magical once they all come together!!!”
Cantet nunc io, chorus angelorum.
That line translates to “Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation,” and it just embodies how these kids are singing their hearts out. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if this rendition brings a tear to your eye.
Or if you start singing along at the top of your lungs.
And by all means, go ahead. Christmas is just around the corner and we all deserve the happiness it brings. Let’s hope the choir finds their way in your homes and your cars too!
Listen to this festive rendition below, they are adorably talented!
