Who said police officers can’t have some fun and get a little crazy?
Nobody- that’s right! They, too, can cut loose every once in a while. And the officers at the Nixa Police Department found the perfect way to do it.
The lip sync challenge that went viral started with Alexander Mena, a deputy in the Bexar County (TX) Sheriff’s Office. In the video he posted, he sang “Fuiste Mala” by the Kumbia Kings and got several millions of views on YouTube.
After that, the challenge took over the Internet and numerous Police Departments followed his example and accepted the lip sync challenge.
With a quick YouTube search, one can find plenty of videos featuring police officers lip-syncing to popular songs.
One of them is the Nixa Police Department version and has been viewed by more than 250K people and received three thousand upvotes.
The officers decided to lip sync and dance to the popular 1984 song by Kenny Loggins, “Footloose”.
When the song was first released, it spent three weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, while it also ranked number 4 song for 1984.
The Nixa PD’s submission stood out for two reasons.
First, because the song is so catchy and groovy that you can’t help dancing to it. It was the hit of the “Footloose” movie and it’s hard to listen to it without bringing in mind Kevin Bacon dancing to it.
Secondly, the video is special because of the participants it features. It’s not only officers that take part in it, but members of the local community, too! From kids to the elderly, everyone dances to the captivating rhythm.
And it’s super enjoyable to watch!
The first thing that we can see in the video is Chief Liles, who yells “I thought this was a party, everybody dance!” And then we can see an officer’s feet dancing to the first notes of the song.
The upbeat, fun song then begins and they all show off their dancing moves.
Officers then start singing and things go crazy! Their lip-syncing skills are excellent, their attitude, too. Members of the local community then appear as they dance with the officers, making the video even more interesting and fun.
Little by little, as the song proceeds, more and more people turn up and dance along with the officers, while singing too.
Even babies participate in the challenge!
Their dance and lip sync is amazing, and one can tell that they really enjoyed it and had fun together.
YouTube users also enjoyed this video and took the opportunity to comment about it below the video.
“That was just brilliant,” someone wrote, while another user commented: “I never get tired of these Lip Sync Battles! I appreciate and am grateful for all the men and women in blue…… keep it up!”
It seems that the public enjoys seeing the heroes in blue cut loose once in a while, proving that they, too, are people and can be fun and have fun when they’re not on duty. Greatly appreciated!
