If the internet has taught us anything, it’s that there are some really talented police officers out there. On top of being kind and courageous -there are cops across the nation who’ve posted videos showing they’re also amazing dancers, singers, or just plain funny.
One group of Indiana troopers went viral for a comical lip-sync video they made in the back of a golf cart. It was filmed during August and revolves around the ultimate “end of summer” song. Oh, you know the one…
As a teen, you might have dreamed of having a summer romance – and nothing made it sound as good as the song “Summer Nights” from Grease. Whether you preferred Sandy’s innocent memories or Danny’s steamy details, it’s a tune that had a lot of hearts throbbing.
This is perhaps what you think of when you hear “Summer Nights.”
Thanks to four hilarious troopers, you might think of them too after watching the video below.
Indiana State Police Trooper Jonathon Amburgey was on duty at the fair – along with his colleagues Brent Lemberg, Jonathan Cole, and Dustin Rutledge. While patrolling the event the group decided they wanted to have a little fun.
So, they flipped on the camera and filmed themselves lip-syncing the Grease classic!
In the video, they’re silently driving around in their golf cart as the beginning of “Summer Nights” plays in the background. Once they hit the lyrics, it becomes clear who’s the John Travolta of the group… Yep, the one on the left with the cool shades and slight lip curl!
But as we know, every Danny needs his Sandy.
After the trooper on the left mouths Travolta’s part, the driver jumps in and becomes Olivia Newton-John! Doesn’t he make a lovely Australian sweetheart? He “sings” Sandy’s lines perfectly with stars in his eyes and seeming dreamy.
It soon becomes a duet.
Good luck keeping a straight face watching the two troopers lip-sync “Summer Nights.” You gotta admit, aren’t they the perfect Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson?
Eventually, they mouth the words together. While they’re not technically “singing,” it’s obvious they know their Grease!
Just when you think it couldn’t get any funnier, it does.
As we know, the main characters are surrounded by their Rydell High buddies in the film. So at the right moment, the troopers in the back seat hysterically jump in – one as the male and the other as the female.
The troopers wanted to show everyone they’re real people too.
Trooper Jonathon Amburgey posted the video online and it quickly went viral. He explained to FOX59:
“The state fair is a time that we have the opportunity to interact with the public in a way that we normally don’t get to. We wanted to show people that we aren’t robots. We have a personality, we like to laugh, and most of all, we like to make other people laugh.”
Although they don’t cover the entire song in the video, it’s a “performance” that’s spreading tons of laughter.
One viewer wrote:
“omg love this video dig it if I need a laugh I just come on here I love these troopers they are amazing singers”
Someone else commented:
“You guys Rock! it makes me laugh every time I listen to it!”
