A surprise dance show is pretty much the last thing you would expect to see at an office. However, at the grand opening of the Trade Space UK office a few months ago, that’s exactly what happened.
Hundreds of employees gathered in the lobby of the new building waiting for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to take place.
On the surface, everything appeared completely normal. Yet, things weren’t exactly as they seemed. Little did they know at the time, but the two men holding the ribbon were actually professional dancers.
Suddenly, the fun began.
One of the employees walked up with scissors to cut the ribbon and officially open, but the men stopped her in her tracks.
“Let’s make this a little more exciting,” said one of the ribbon holders.
The song “Come Together” by The Beatles came on over the speakers and the men dropped the ribbon to the ground. They started doing a really crazy dance that had all of the officer workers cracking up. No one could believe what they were seeing.
However, that was just the start of the flash mob.
Soon, the music changed to “Staying Alive” by The Beegees and several other people wandered out of the crowd to join in on the dance. At first, you might suspect that they were just random employees caught up in the energy of the moment. That’s what they looked like, at least.
All of the dancers were completely undercover, dressed in business casual clothing just like the rest of the employees so no one suspected anything. However, once the crowd witnessed their slick moves, it quickly became obvious that they weren’t just your average officer workers.
It turns out, all of the dancers were a part of a group called Club Mob.
According to their website, flash mobs are their specialty.
“We work closely with you to create truly unique surprises that will take your event to the next level,” the site reads.
From unexpected dancing waiters to Halloween flash mobs complete with elaborate costumes, Club Mob has done it all.
“Everything about our surprise flash mob performances are customised to thrill guests at each party, proposal, wedding reception, corporate function or promotional opening,” says the group.
Their past clients include big names like Disney, Google, and Amazon, just to name a few.
The Trade Desk UK office flash mob was definitely one of their best performances though.
In total, seven dancers busted out moves for over five minutes in front of the shocked crowd.
Every thirty seconds or so, the music changed, and each time, the excitement in the room continued to increase. By the end, everyone in the crowd was cheering and clapping along. The group finished to roaring applause from all of the employees in the lobby watching.
It was one of the most unique office openings ever and so much cooler than a simple ribbon cutting. In fact, the ribbon itself never even got cut until the very last second of the performance. The dancing was so much fun that everyone completely forgot about it.
However, that’s sort of the point. A well-executed flash mob has the ability to make you forget about everything you were doing previously and bring you entirely into the present moment. In that regard, Club Mob is one of the absolute best at what they do.
