Everyone likes this song, from children to grannies.

Yes, you’ve guessed it right—we’re talking about “Hit the Road Jack,” and that part about hitting the road is not actually about the road trip. Instead, the song tells a little story about a guy who was caught cheating, and now he’s being kicked out. The song is pretty much asking to be sung as loud as possible. An aspiring young singer couldn’t resist it either, and the outcome is a perfect jam that Ray Charles would be proud of.

The best part about Krueger’s music is that she’s very successful at combining classics with electronic production.

Her single “We All in It” is about that seamless melding of the past and present. Hard to believe that such an innovative musician is only 22, right?

“Hit the Road Jack” won a Grammy Award for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording.

The singer-songwriter-pianist recorded the song in 1960, and it instantly hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It is ranked number 387 on Rolling Stone’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It is interesting to know that Ray Charles had three songs that topped the charts worldwide, and the kiss-off anthem is the shortest of all three. Another fun fact is that many hockey teams play the first few lines of the song each time a player is sent to a penalty box.

In all, it’s a fabulous delivery with the perfect attitude.

The smoky ambiance combined with the sound of someone’s shoes.

The band wanted to create an effect of Jack coming. It’s an original, interesting approach, almost as if they were making a short movie. As soon as the song takes off, the band’s producer, Greg Kimble, interrupts their performance just to remind them that they need to work harder if they want to be ready when the tour starts.

We didn’t like the interruption, but it is enjoyable seeing how the band was even more passionate about it the second time they started.

We later understood that it was done to lengthen the song. What a clever idea!

Becca’s got incredible vocals, she’s a true discovery.

Charles would be proud of that clear, flawless voice that did so much justice to his song.
