States across the nation have closed schools due to the coronavirus, in an effort to help stop the spread. That, of course, is in addition to the numerous other countries that have also shut down their educational institutions.
With children out of school and citizens urged to stay at home – schedules are looking different for people all over the world. Each family will be adjusting to daily life in their own way during this pandemic.
For one pair of relatives, they decided to use some of their free time to create a fun dance together.
When you see how awesome it is, perhaps it’ll have you wanting to choreograph one of your own too!
The two females in the video are aunt and niece. From what it seems, they both wanted to find a joyful indoor activity – and what better way to boost your spirits than to dance.
While wearing matching black hats, the ladies jump into their choreographed routine. It’s set to the upbeat song “Booty Swing” which comes from Austria’s popular artist, Parov Stelar. Get ready for an old-fashioned style with a modern twist!
Both of the dancers have smiles on their faces as they bust out their moves. It makes sense though because their routine looks like fun!
They clap their hands, swing around, and at one point throw in a dip. Most of their moves, mixed with the music, remind you of ones from decades ago. However, there’s also a touch of today that combines perfectly with the style.
Their performance is enjoyable to watch, especially with Parov Stelar’s “Booty Swing” in the background. The song also melds the worlds of vintage and modern together.
According to Stelar’s Facebook page:
“He is called the founder of ‘Electro Swing’ and his band, the Parov Stelar Band, is in heavy request all over the world.”
The music genre Electro Swing is a combination of today’s dance music with that from the swing era. If you haven’t heard it before, just know it might have you tapping along.
The aunt and niece are from India and both enjoy dancing. It’s being shared by Storyful – and has also made it onto Good Morning America and ABC News.
One man commented:
“Cute lol, I might as well do this and post it online”
You can tell they put a lot of practice into their routine by how awesome their performance is.
Spending all the time working on it together is surely something this duo will always remember. Not to mention, it got them some good exercise too!
Turns out, the aunt’s name is Reem and her niece’s name is Cy. She wrote on her Facebook page:
“Cy and I just like to dance and with everything cancelled and kids at home, it’s a good way to spend some time together. And yes we washed our hands before, after, during and once more for good measure!”
Both dancing and listening to music are known to be natural mood boosters, so perhaps they’d be great activities to engage in during this time of closures.
