That iconic, climactic lift is what separates this movie’s dance from other films on dancing.

I’m talking of course about Dirty Dancing. It is a classic in its own right. Patrick Swayze plays Johnny Castle, a dance instructor at an upscale resort. Jennifer Grey is Frances “Baby” Houseman, Castle’s love interest and soon to be dance partner.

If you haven’t seen it, go watch. If you have, then go watch it again!

The dance is so beloved, lots of dancers all over the world have taken on the same routine, performing the film’s iconic scene for different events and competitions.

How about during a wedding?

This newly married husband and wife chose the same for their “first dance”, and let me tell you, they absolutely nailed it.

It is by no means easy to do either. It took them three months and countless hours of practice just to perfect it for this night!

The song is “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. It’s got one of those intros that immediately trigger feelings of nostalgia and giddy hormones.

Newlyweds Patrick and Rachel Krach are Johnny Castle and Baby Houseman for about four minutes. The older guests watching were suddenly taken back to 1987 by these two.

Patrick and Rachel are no amateurs judging by how they made their entrance and how they started off the dance. It’s not their first time and you can see the entertainers in them.

The camera work is amazing, circling up and around the venue to capture every angle of this twirling couple. They are so light on their feet, and those dips and bends seem so effortless!

A viewer named Suzita commented,

“Really good dancers. You should both be in the Theatre.”

Well you never know!

In the movie, the dance takes place at the end-of-season talent show. It’s where a lot of complications from the characters come full circle, ending in a sort of happily ever after. Very eighties.

It has a very sweet, sensual start, with both dancers holding each other close as they stare in to each other’s eyes.

The fantastic footwork and stunning spins take over as the beat comes in, the higher tempo building the anticipation of both dancers and onlookers. And these newlyweds aren’t missing a single beat!

How can you not love these two? Really is the time of their life!

Patrick (the groom) gets his little solo, jumping, twisting, then finally exploding into a fantastic backflip eliciting loud cheers from family and guests.

Then finally the moment everyone’s waiting for. Husband and wife face each other a few feet apart, counting down the melody before Rachel makes her way to Patrick, jumping up as he catches her for that signature lift.

Absolutely perfect!
