Country artist Jennifer Nettles is one of those singers that could make any song come to life. With that being said, combining her with a powerful holiday classic could only lead to goosebumps, right? Absolutely.
Nettles had the opportunity to perform her favorite “spiritual” Christmas tune on stage at a charity event. Hopefully, all of the crowd members dressed in their warm sweaters that evening, because the rendition is nothing less than chilling!
The award-winning singer released her solo album To Celebrate Christmas. On that album was a version of “O Holy Night.”
Nettles (who’s also part of the country duo Sugarland) has a magnificent voice that blends well with all the enthusiasm she brings to her performances. This includes when she takes on the Christmas carols we grew up with.

But Nettles doesn’t always need “a stage” to completely rock a performance…
Who can forget the video of Nettles singing a mixture of “O Holy Night” and “Hallelujah” at the SiriusXM studio? The holiday performance was so unforgettable that it currently has over 23K “likes” on YouTube alone.
At the time, Nettles told SiriusXM:
“I don’t remember favorite Christmas songs growing up, I like them all. I think for me, my favorite Christmas song in terms of traditional [and] more spiritual, is O Holy Night.”

The following year, one lucky audience got to watch Nettles perform the beloved song “O Holy Night” live.
It was a very special event, for a very special cause. The concert took place at the CMA Theater in Nashville, raising donations and awareness for “Band Against Cancer.”
On the organization’s Facebook page, it explains:
“Band Against Cancer connects people facing cancer with the help they need close to home. We have one goal – to empower communities to fight cancer together. The more voices in the band, the louder we can be heard.”

Jennifer Nettles was backed by her band during the holiday event, where she performed songs from her album To Celebrate Christmas.
Surely the evening was filled to the brim of feel-good renditions. However, in just the first few moments of the country star’s “O Holy Night,” it’s obvious her cover will be intoxicating.
You can see Nettles’ passion with every word she sings.
As the live performance goes on, it gets more and more spine-tingling…
When she hits the chorus, the part of the song that makes many of our hearts soar – the powerhouse does not disappoint!
She belts out the lyrics with such great strength that you can feel them in your body and your soul. Don’t be surprised if you spend much of the four-minute performance covered in goosebumps.
“O Holy Night” is a carol that’s been covered by numerous popular artists, from Mariah Carey to Josh Groban. By now you’ve probably already created a list of your favorites – but just be prepared to make room for Nettles and her band’s live version.
One YouTube user commented:
“I’m 71 years old, and this brings tears to my eyes every time. An astounding performance by Ms. Nettles, Bravo!”
Someone else wrote:
“I could listen to her sing this song over and over again, Jennifer puts so much feeling into this song.”
