It’s the best time of the year! While it is completely subjective what the best holiday is, it’s kind of hard to argue with a holiday that has its own music genre dedicated to it! With Christmas comes Christmas music. There is a nostalgia and excitement associated with those special songs that we listen to on repeat every single year.
With Christmas music never really changing, people get creative with it!
Some of us get tired of listening to the same songs every year. Even when new artists come out with Christmas albums, it’s just their versions of songs written 50 years ago. Regardless, we can’t help but feel the warm fuzzies when certain songs come on. One of those involves a red-nosed friend.
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, is about as classic as it gets.
We all know the lyrics and we all know the deer. We have been singing it since we were kids! Despite the yearly repeats, it is still fun to hear the song reimagined from time to time. Occasionally, something really special happens in that reimagining process.
The United States Navy Band decided to do their own cover of the song!
Now, you think, “wow, that’s boring,” the results are actually hilarious! The merry group took everything to the next level – costume, performance, and all! People seem to like it since It has nearly 400k views on YouTube!
The video opens with a man in a FULL tux singing the first verse.
Dressed to impress, he spins around and sings the first to the song that we all know,
🎵You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?🎵
As each one spins around, we see what special element they’ve added to their wardrobe! They have scarves of different colors, and they are all wearing black shades. The scene is set like a classy barbershop quartet but with a formal Christmas flair!
As the music builds into the chorus, we see that they are actually pretty good!
It’s one thing to have a funny parody of a song – it’s another to do a good job with it! Corey A. Parker starts singing in this hilarious falsetto that, funny enough, works! They have bass singers and a full band, complete with strings, brass, and the like.
Swinging and snapping, they are ALL into their performance.
It’s important that you get as deep into your character as possible. If you don’t fully commit, it’s obvious. We can all see through a half-hearted performance. The five singers dance and even do some choreographed moments that align with the lyrics.
By the end of the video, you are sure to have chuckled!
If you aren’t laughing by the end of this video, you probably forgot to turn your sound on!
There is just too much in the performance that brings out a chuckle or two. With a bow, the performers complete their performance, and the audience erupts in applause!
