Many hits released from that era have proven to be truly timeless, songs that have weathered the test and live on in our hearts to this day.

Fortunately, they are songs that we still get to hear across the airwaves, and ones we will seemingly always keep on rotation.

A solid soft-rock favorite, the band Fleetwood Mac made a real statement with their eleventh studio album Rumours released in 1977.

The album enjoyed wild success and was widely acclaimed by critics. It went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time, and surely one of the best sounding albums of all time. Although the album displays an unmatched brilliance, the band underwent fervent turmoil during the time of production. Each member dealt with struggle, yet prevailed over their personal upheavals in the form of a remarkable soft-rock classic.

The second single from Rumours was the hit “Dreams.”

Any fan instantly swoons and buckles beneath the quiet pleasure that comes from Stevie Nicks’ voice.

The song embodies a certain soft despair, illustrative of the turmoil she was going through in separating from her partner and bandmate Lindsey Buckingham. She wrote the song about him. Fortunately, they were able to put their differences aside to continue to create music—and a song that would reach number one on the Billboard Top 100.

Nicks revealed in a 2005 interview with Blender magazine:

“I found a drum pattern, switched my little cassette player on and wrote ‘Dreams’ in about 10 minutes. It was a rough take, just me singing solo and playing piano. Even though he was mad with me at the time, Lindsey played it and then looked up at me and smiled.”

The end result? A song literally made for dreaming.

Many have gone on to capture the essence of “Dreams” and cover it, and today we’re sharing the video for an absolutely jaw-dropping take.
