Who says you need drums to have an extraordinary drumming performance? If this sounds confusing, you’ll want to take a closer peek at one group of students’ musical routine that’s taken the internet by storm.

The Tennessee teens are all part of the Munford High School Band, which is made up of over 200 members. Every year the band plays in competitions across the country, and also takes part in many events. According to their website, they’re “respected as one of the most highly recognized groups in the Southeast.”

During the school’s 2019 Christmas concert it was the band’s drumline that left everyone amazed. But as mentioned before – there wasn’t a single drum present.

Fortunately for all of us who didn’t attend the concert, there was a woman in the crowd who captured it all on film. It’s a video that quickly went viral and has been shared over 127,000 times in under three weeks.

Angel McCann is the proud mom of 15-year-old Blaine Pittman, who plays the snare drum. Her footage shows eight drummers sitting in a circle wearing colorful holiday sweaters. They all have a pair of drumsticks, only no instruments can be seen.

It quickly turns into a unique and spectacular performance that displays the students’ musical talent.

Instead of rapping on drums, they create a rhythmic beat using their sticks, feet, and even their chairs. Together they sound incredible and it’s mesmerizing to watch their skills.

At first, the teens are all sitting down in a circle for the routine. However, the performance progresses and eventually, they’re all on their feet beating on their chairs.

If you’ve watched drumlines before than you know the shows can be quite entertaining. The Munford teens’ act is too, only their creativity brings it to a different level. Talk about thinking outside of the box!

By no surprise, the crowd goes wild at the end of the drummers’ “drum-less” act. The internet has also been equally awestruck since McCann shared it on Facebook.

A viewer named Flo C. commented:

“Beautiful!! now that’s what I call Total Expression of oneself!! Well done!!!”

In addition to the video, McCann shared a photo of the boys from the night of the Christmas concert as well.

She wrote:

“I am blown away by this group. The chemistry they have between them is a huge part of the recognition they are receiving. They have been more of a family than just a drumline. It has been impressive to watch them these last few months – always sticking together and becoming such a tight unit. It’s no wonder the world has taken notice.”

The entire Munford High School Band is well-known for racking up amazing accomplishments over the years. According to WMC News, they’ve performed in the Macy’s Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade too.

In a matter of weeks, the drummers’ act has been viewed more than 4.5 million times on Facebook and has made national headlines. That’s pretty impressive, to say the least!

The internet is full of awesome musical performances that win us over. Yet, it’s not very often we get to watch a drumming act – that doesn’t feature a single drum.
