A lot of us have been there—you’re walking down the street, there’s a busker doing wonders with his instrument and you can’t walk away from it.
Let’s face it, some buskers are just too impressive to walk away from—let alone when someone plays several instruments and does it impeccably.
Meet Reinhardt Buhr, a guy who does multi-instrumental live looping and magically attracts huge crowds with his energetic performances.
For those who don’t know him, Buhr is an inspirational guy who pulled his life back together after hitting the bottom with addiction.
Buhr was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1988.
There is a complete biography on his official website, where this lad openly discusses his horrible experience with the drug scene that almost got him killed. It’s an extremely touching story about one man’s transition in life.
While growing up, Buhr wasn’t interested in making music—but that all changed when he was 19 years old.
It was at that stage that he began to learn guitar with his friend. By coincidence a few weeks after, the owner of a restaurant in his hometown recognized his talent and asked if Buhr could entertain his guests.
His career took off and in 2019, Buhr’s work went viral on social media.
Figures now show over four million views per month, and the number is still on the rise. What an amazing story to learn from!
Buhr is the master of many different instruments from all over the world.
You know it’s pure talent when a man can combine so many different instruments and get such a mesmerizing sound.
All of it happens on the spot. Buhr is a real modern genius in the musical world, as it takes a lot of effort and skill to play all these instruments to produce such a complex piece of work.
Anyway, here’s the list of instruments he uses—and it’s a long one.
This talented fellow combines the guitar, electric cello, Australian didgeridoo, Israeli shofar, Spanish cajon and piano. Together, they combine for a symphonic orchestra that’s totally improvisational.
The plan is to also add a laser harp via his live looping pedal.
His repertoire is amazing, and if you’re interested to know more about these instruments, they are detailedly listed in the video description box.
When the video begins, we see a young man in the street.
There is a square little carpet on the pavement that he puts his instruments and loop station on.
There is a big crowd around him enjoying his music, which is understandable—it drags you in!
To date, Buhr has composed 16 albums.
From what we’ve seen, the man is capable to blend all these instruments with perfect timing.
He does that on his own, and the result is a hauntingly beautiful melody you could almost meditate to. What we love the most is the fact that Buhr has such an incredible life story, and many people can relate to it.
It takes talent to make music like this, but it takes a lot more courage to turn your life around and give up on all those things that make you miserable.
For that, Buhr deserves a huge round of applause.
Since his video was posted, it has earned more than three million YouTube views.
The video was uploaded in 2019, and Buhr’s official YouTube channel has 131,000 subscribers.
We bet every single one of them enjoyed every part of this piece! If you like what Buhr does, you can purchase his albums or make a PayPal donation!
