The bond between parent and child is the strongest in the world.
So naturally, on a man’s wedding day, he often wants his mom to be a part of it. In the case of this video we’re discussing today, the man’s mother had ALS—but her proud son wheeled her onto the dance floor to share a mother-groom dance all the same. This emotional dance they shared will bring tears to your eyes.
Before Luke’s mother lost her battle with ALS, they shared an emotional mother-son dance at his wedding.
When Luke and his wife, Kristeena, decided to get married, there was a heavy reality weighing on Luke’s family. His mom had ALS and wouldn’t have much longer to live, she made it to the wedding and the dance they shared had everyone balling their eye’s out.
At the beginning of the video, Luke wheels out his mom and kisses her on the forehead. She is overcome by a flood of emotions and immediately begins to cry.
Next, Luke kneels next to his mother to comfort her and the whole thing is captured on video.
There isn’t a dry eye in the house as this mother and son embrace one another. Luke’s mother continues to weep and he continues to be strong and console her. All the wedding guests watch and are completely touched by the exchange.
If anyone knows how to make his mom laugh, it’s Luke. That’s exactly what he does as her tears suddenly turn into laughter.
Wheelchair or not, Luke is determined to spin his mother during the dance—and she starts to laugh.
As her mood starts to change, Luke slowly pushes his mother’s wheelchair around the dance floor. The impactful moment was caught on video and the effect it has on the wedding guests is even greater. Before long, everyone in the background is sobbing.
At the end of the dance, emotions overtake Luke’s mother again and she starts to cry. Since the video was posted, people all over the internet have poured out sympathy and love for this mother and her strong son. As it turns out, it was Luke’s wife who originally posted the video to YouTube—and it quickly went viral.
Over 17 million people have viewed the touching mother-son dance.
