Simon Cowell started the pre audition chat with, “I’m always curious when mums and daughters work together. Who’s idea was it?”

Honey answers, “Mine. I applied without telling her”.

“Why do you think its important you did this with your mum?” Simon continued.

“In the past couple of years my mum got a diagnosis” the 14-year-old shared.

“It has been a tough couple of years and to be here with my mum is the best thing that has happened to me. I never thought when me and my mum would be singing in the car that it would bring us to this stage.”

You can see the brave teenager holding back tears.

Honey continues, saying, “I’m so grateful for everything. I never thought that me and my mum singing in the car or something would bring us to this stage.”

The mom and daughter duo go on to sing, already emotional along with the audience until Simon cuts them off.

He doesn’t like the song but agrees that their voices work well together.

Honey and Sammy hold hands as Simon asks, “I just feel it needs to be one of those big moments. So how would you feel about coming back maybe later on today?”

Good call by the seasoned judge, as the audience applauds his decision.

The mother and daughter tandem make their way backstage and come back just fifteen minutes later.

Even Simon was surprised.

Sammy says she’s found the perfect song.

One she can identify with as a mom, saying that all moms out there will surely relate to her choice too.

They originally sang “She Used to Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles, but came back ready to sing “Lost Without You” by Freya Ridings.

Sammy still had the lyrics written on her hand!

And they sang beautifully. The four judges were visibly moved, while the audience hung on to every moment shared by the mother and daughter on stage.

It was almost like the song told their entire story.

Even the judges knew it as they gave their impressions.

Simon said, “Good for you. After everything you’ve gone through you deserve that moment and I’m going to remember this audition for a long, long time.”

Alesha emotionally commented, “I just love the connection, there’s nothing more beautiful than a daughter relationship. Congratulations, you did it.”

Amanda, in tears, said, “Every single lyric you got right and sang just seemed so poignant to your story. It was the most wonderful thing to witness.”

And soon as she finished her comment, Amanda strikes the golden buzzer, raining gold down on Honey and Sammy.

There was a lot of hugging and a lot of crying that day.
