If there’s one thing movie makers love to do, it’s to play games with the viewers. They love to add Easter Eggs to the movie, create suspense, and to even put little extras or quick glimpses in movies that will only make the most active viewers stop and want to rewind. They want the user to think, “Wait, what did I just see?” And I don’t think any of them blame them! There’s more to movies than just the plot, and this is a creative way to reward viewers for taking the time to watch the movie.
When these things happen in theaters, it makes you want to watch the movie again. Thankfully, movies nowadays are released on streaming platforms and on DVD/Blu-Ray pretty quickly. This allows us to watch those specific scenes in movies (sometimes over and over again!) to see if we really saw what we saw. In fact, some of these Easter Eggs and iconic scenes in movies have become the most paused movie moments in film history!

Boogie Nights – Changing Room Scene
You wouldn’t think a major film about an explicit video star would be revered by critics, but Boogie Nights defied the odds. Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson proved that he has a mastery of his art, and Boogie Nights was a masterpiece. The film follows the life and fall of adult film star, Dirk Diggler. As expected, viewers were curious to see the size of Diggler’s tools, and those curiosities were answered at the end of the film, which is a scene that’s very often paused.
Thor: The Dark World – Chalkboard Scene
If there was a “most paused movie franchise” list, then it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios films would dominate the list. The directors and writers are known to include a myriad of Easter Eggs in the film, and fans love trying to identify these hidden gems. Just look on YouTube ghostwriter. There are so many videos devoted to the hidden Easter Eggs that the average viewer misses in every film!
But on of the most paused scenes in the franchise comes in Thor: The Dark World. The specific scene is when Dr. Selvig has scribbled gibberish on a chalkboard in the mental health facility he’s at. The scribbles aren’t just scribbles though – they’re mathematical and astronomical equations and theories. The scribbles even contain a name of a place called Nidavellir, which plays a key role in Avengers: Infinity War.
Iron Man 2 – Nick Fury Scene
At the end of Iron Man 2, Nick Fury meets with Tony Stark. Behind the characters, you can see there’s a map that supposedly shows areas where there’s been superhero activity ghostwriter für online klausur. In the movie, The Back-up Plan, starring Jennifer Lopez, Lopez plays a woman who undergoes artificial insemination. The movie chronicles her pregnancy as well as her romantic relationship with a new guy in her life. As Lopez has always been known for her incredible looks, viewers have paused the film many times because the film uses a body double many times throughout for Lopez. Can you spot when it’s a body double and when it’s J-Lo?
There’s Something About Mary
There’s Something About Mary is a comedy classic that everyone should see once in their lives. There are so many memorable scenes, but the most memorable scene was when a teenage Ben Stiller gets his private parts trapped in his zipper before prom. So many people pause this scene because of Stiller’s hilarious reaction!
The Graduate – Bedroom Scene
The Graduate is widely considered to be one of the best dark comedies in film history, even 50 years after it’s initial release. The film is often referenced in popular culture. The most paused scene is the bedroom scene…. for obvious reason.
The Cabin In The Woods – Whiteboard Scene
The Cabin in the Woods is a cult classic horror film. The film does an incredible job turning the horror genre on its head with its creativity. There’s a specific scene in the movie where viewers often pause – it’s when men are standing in front of a dry-erase whiteboard. If you read what’s on the whiteboard, you’ll realize it’s a list of horror figures and archetypes.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit – Car Crash Scene
There are tons of Easter Eggs and background gags in the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but one of the most paused scenes involves Jessica Rabbit. When the toon car crashes into an electric pole, and Jessica flies through the air twirling, her dress flaps up just enough to reveal she’s not wearing underwear… it’s a very brief moment.
Tron – Flying Solar Sailer Scene
If you’re paying attention, you can catch Mickey Mouse in nearly all Disney movies. It’s not always the cartoon character, but there’s always some recognizable silhouette of Mickey’s head and round ears. 1982’s Tron is a perfect example bachelorarbeit schreiben lassen. In reality, the “bulge” is just his knee protruding from the line of his robe, but Disney has fixed the snafu in later versions of the film.
Deadpool 2 – Vanisher’s Death Scene
Deadpool 2 features a myriad of Easter Eggs for comic book lovers. In this movie, The Vanisher is introduced as part of X-Force. The Vanisher is in fact invisible and we never see what he looks like until his death, when he’s parachuting and high winds blow him into the power lines. As he’s being electrocuted, his face flashes on screen, and it’s none other than Brad Pitt.
Fight Club – Tyler Durden Appearances
Speaking of Bard Pitt, there’s a neat moment in Fight Club. While we shouldn’t talk about the Fight Club, in this movie, there’s a twist ending (don’t read further if you don’t want it to be spoiled), where we learn that Brad Pitt’s character has been a figment of Edward Norton’s character’s imagination the whole time. Viewers may have figured this out because Tyler Durden is flashed no less than four times on screen before he makes his official appearance.
Fast Times At Ridgemont High – Pool Scene
This movie contains perhaps the most iconic/bikini scene in modern American films. Phoebe Cates’ exit from the pool, when she unclasps her bikini to reveal everything, is iconic. The scene is really in Judge Reinhold’s character’s head, but it’s still iconic.
Star Wars – Storm Trooper Scene
Director George Lucas revisited this particular scene to make a surprising edit. When the door lifts up in Star Wars, and Storm Troopers file out, you can see one of the troopers hit their head on the bottom of the door and it clearly catches them by surprise. This wasn’t planned at all, but having scene this, Lucas went back and added sound effects to it.
The Wizard of Oz – Munchkin Scene
Another movie scene where plenty of people pause to figure out what’s going on is The Wizard of Oz. In the forest scene in the movie, it appears as though a body is hanging and swinging from a rope in the background. When the figure was discovered, many believed a conspiracy theory that stated that a munchkin actor had hung themselves. Of course, the studio denies these claims. Thanks to technology this theory was debunked when higher definition version of the movie was released.
The Wolf of Wall Street – Nursey Scene
This iconic movie has an all-time classic scene when Margot Robbie teases Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in the nursery of their home. Robbie tantalizes DiCaprio’s character with a “no touching” rule as she seduces him. What Robbie’s character doesn’t realize at this time is that there are cameras all over the house that are recording the antics.
Three Men and a Baby – Ghost Scene
Another urban legend that caused millions to pause their viewing experience and claim, “Did you see that?!” was the movie Three Men and a Baby. In this movie, there’s a scene that reveals what looks to be a young boy standing behind a curtain in a strange ghostly visage. After this was discovered, viewers started saying the film was haunted and this was the ghost of a boy who used to live at the haunted apartment the film was filmed at. However, studio execs shut down these theories. They revealed the boy was actually a cardboard cut out that was mistakenly left in that scene and nobody noticed it.
Basic Instinct – Interrogation Scene
The famous scene in this movie is of course, the steamy interrogation scene where Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) is being questioned about the murder of her boyfriend. During the questioning, Tramell shifts her weight and uncrosses her legs, leaving them briefly open for a split second…
Jurassic World – Pterodactyl Attack Scene
A famed musician makes a brief cameo in this unexpected film. When a crazy pterodactyl attacks a large crowd of pedestrians, there’s a man in a bright orange shirt and white cap getting up from his table. This was singer Jimmy Buffett!
Raiders of the Lost Ark – Confrontation Scene
When Indiana Jones confronts the nazis with a bazooka in Raiders of the Lost Ark, viewers may notice a fly landing on Paul Freeman’s face. The fly then crawls into his mouth, never to come outa again. To Freeman’s credit, he never breaks character and recites his line, talk about composure!
Man of Steel – Space Battle Scene
In 2013’s Man of Steel, Superman, played by actor Henry Cavill, battles a power hungry Kryptonian named General Zod. During the final battle, while Superman and General Zod are laying waste to Metropolis, their fight takes them into outer space where they crash into a satellite. If you pause at the right moment, you can catch a logo on the satellite that says, “Wayne” which is a reference to Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Ghostbusters – Ghost Outbreak Scene
Ghostbusters was a smash hit when it came out in 1984 because it appealed to a very broad audience, both the young and old. There’s a brief cameo in the film by adult star, Ron Jeremy.
Teen Wolf – End Scene
While Teen Wolf isn’t as popular as Michael J. Fox’s other films like Back to the Future, it’s still watched and liked by many around the world. There’s a special scene just before the credits roll where Fox’s character, Scott Howard, celebrates their basketball win while one of the fans in the stands seems to have their fly down and well, everything is hanging out.
If you watch the film again, though, it does look like the person’s fly is down, but his privates are not hanging out. Producers responded to this legend by confirming that it was a woman in the stands and not a man.
Total Recall
In 1990 action thriller, Total Recall, there’s a scene when a woman with three bosoms can be seen on screen. Naturally, people paused here because it caused them to double-take.
Iron Man – Cap’s Shield
When you watch Iron Man, the original Marvel movie, you’ll notice that Captain America’s unfinished shield can be spotted in Tony Stark’s workshop.
Psycho – Skeletal Reflection
A skull can be seen superimposed over Norman Bates’s (actor Anthony Perkins) face.
Signs – The Alien
This 2002 film centered around an alien invasion. However, the aliens in this movie are only seen in brief scenes at first. They eventually show up later, but you have to pause quickly, in the beginning, to even notice them.
