Weddings are so much fun. Once a man proposes and the girl says yes, preparations are underway and even the family and friends are in on all the intimate details.
Once the sweet ceremony is done, the reception is on full swing with all the food and drinks ready to delight guests.
For the more traditional, there is always a dance between a father and his daughter and a mother with her son.
Call it a way of showing the world who raised who, giving thanks and showering love on mom and dad for everything they’ve done thus far. From then on, it’s between husband and wife.
But not before a dance like this one between a son and his mom. It’s sort of traditional but not quite.
Thomas Howell uploaded this video of a very cool dance between him and his mom.
It’s sweet, funny and actually pretty cool for mom to do this.
It’s a once in a lifetime event after all!
The mom and son duo begin a sweet dance to Louis Armstrong’s “What a wonderful world”, a song that is just perfect on so many levels.
Thomas is a grown man thanks to mom, you know.
Sometimes, tradition is so beautiful.
The mother-of-the-groom dance isn’t really necessary to include during the reception, but it is a lovely moment for the groom to honor and recognize his mom.
And to be honest, mom has been looking forward to this moment for a long time.
The dance usually happens around the same time of the father-daughter duet. Both dances typically take place after the bride and groom’s first dance.
It’s a dance that’s traditionally slow. But modern couples have begun to switch things up a bit, adding uptempo tunes or mixing them with the initial slow dance.
Like Thomas and his cool mom here!
It looks to be a small gathering of close friends and family but the way his mom dances you’d think they were at a huge event.
The music transitions to an Usher track and mom starts shuffling.
Mom then does a little twist before Thomas joins in for YMCA.
At this point, everyone else is just cheering and smiling at these two. Mom’s got a lot of energy in her!
Then there’s Michael Jackson and a few other familiar tracks. One after the other, Thomas and his mom take their guests on a ride through history, showing the evolution of dance.
It’s so much fun that after a few more songs, members of the family join in to dance with the mother and son duo.
This is how to make weddings memorable and exceptional!
No one knows if the dance happened before or after their meals but either way, that’s putting all those dishes and drinks to good use,
Take a page out of Thomas and mom’s book here. Surely there are weddings to follow.
