We all know the many benefits of dance. It’s great for your health, does wonders for your confidence, and keeps you active and moving. But did you know that it’s also a great way to impress your children?
That’s my mom
Several adults were invited to the center stage during the 2016 DDI Dance Convention. These men and women ranged from a wide variety of ages, body shapes, and outfits, but all were eager to put on a great show for the convention.
But the video is less focused on the event and more focused on one mother in particular. The woman in the red and gray top steps onto the stage getting lloose and limber for the performance to come. One young girl shouts “Her mom’s up there, ya’ll”, while the camera focuses. The woman turns towards the camera, smiles at her daughter, then turns towards the front of the room to get ready for the show.
Warm up
The music starts and we’re treated to a thumping hip-hop instrumental track. The fast pace and heavy bass line gets the woman swaying and moving as they feel out the music. The mother in the center of the shot concentrates, while her daughter says:
“Let’s see if my mom is any good”
The music keeps to this pace for a time as more of the women gain confidence in their movements. But the camera is fixed solely on one mother in particular, who has a daring smile on her face. She’s ready to put on a show, and everyone knows it.
As the music builds, the women clap in time with the beat.The girl’s mom bounces from foot to foot as the energy builds to the amazing dance steps that have yet to come.
Bust a groove
Then the music picks up and this mother jumps into action. Her knees rise up, she kicks and pumps her fists, You might even notice how the other women move and hop in time with the steps. it’s a visual treat for anyone who loves hip-hop dancing.
But the dancers aren’t the only ones going crazy. You can hear the roar of the crowds as spectators cheer on their favorite performers. It’s hard to hear the music over the rising roar of the crowd, but the women on the dance floor never miss a step.
The highlight of this part of the video is when this mother nails the running man. She puts more energy in this small clip than many dancers do in longer live performances and it’s incredible to see.
Someone to look up to
The music reaches its apex as the heavy beats somehow rise higher than the voices of the crowd. As most the women turn and go into kicks, the mom in focus turns towards her friend. Both women kick towards one another in a display that had to have been practiced long before the show.
The crowd goes wild and you can hear the daughter shout:
“She’s my inspiration!”
It’s such a heartwarming moment that’s followed with more impressive steps and a shout of “Let’s go!” The song ends and the women receive loud and proud applause. The daughter shouts once more about how inspirational her mother is, just as the video cuts out.
It’s sweet seeing how much mother inspires daughter with her confident and powerful dance steps.
