Sammy Harrison was 43 when she made a life changing recovery.
That in itself is an awesome achievement but her daughter, Honey, decided to take it a step further.
The 15-year-old signed them up for Britain’s Got Talent as a surprise.
Honey’s mommy was celebrating her birthday the day they auditioned.
LovSome birthday surprise this was!
Simon goes on to ask more about the mother and daughter duo.
That’s when Honey revealed to the judges her mom’s illness battle getting teary eyed in the process.
A collective silence fell on everyone as Honey told the story.
Mr. Cowell asks Sammy how she’s feeling now and to everyone’s admiration, she says she’s “absolutely fine” to the audience’s cheers and applause.
They initially performed ‘She Used To Be Mine‘ by Sara Bareilles but they’ve barely sang the first part when
Simon raises his hand to stop them.
“I just don’t like the song” says Simon.
Simon then asks them to come back a little later with a different song to which Sammy and Honey agreed to do.
He thinks their voices work well together and since it was a big moment, he asked them to return after awhile.
Sammy and Honey returned to the stage fifteen minutes later to perform ‘Lost Without You‘ by Freya Ridings. Sammy even wrote the lyrics on her hand.
She shares that as a mom, she identifies with the lyrics.
“She has really been my rock and got me through, sir.”
She adds in reference to her daughter.
What follows is an enchanting, mesmerizing and heart rending duet by mom and daughter.
The song really does speak volumes, as if it told the entire story of what they went through together.
It’s so easy to get emotional and overlook the fact that Honey and Sammy are really exceptional singers.
As they finish their audition, the judges and the audience rise to give both mom and daughter a standing ovation, everyone trying to hide their tears.
It was such a moving performance even Simon looked to be on the verge of tears.
Sammy and Honey shared the sweetest embrace on that BGT stage.
“Good for you. After everything you’ve gone through, you know, you deserve that moment. And I’m gonna’ remember this audition for a long, long time.” – Simon Cowell
David described the moment as “faultless“. Alesha loved the mother daughter connection. But it was Amanda who, aside from Simon, was visibly moved.
“Every single lyric that you got right and sang just seemed so poignant to your story, it was just the most wonderful thing to witness.”
As soon as she gave her impressions, Amanda hits the golden buzzer, shocking both Sammy and Honey as the crowd roared their approval.
A golden shower for a golden moment that truly captured mom and daughter’s journey together.
Amanda hugs her fellow judges before running on stage to give both Sammy and Honey an embrace that just spoke volumes of how everyone felt that day.
