Country singer Mitch Rossell, 35, moved the judges and audience with his deeply personal song, “Son,” during his audition on “America’s Got Talent.”
Before taking the stage, Rossell shared his story with the producers. Growing up in east Tennessee, he bonded with his father over country music, often riding in the car together.
His father even bought him a guitar and encouraged him to learn, but Rossell, being a rambunctious kid, didn’t take the time to do so.
Tragedy struck when Rossell was 10 years old, as his father, along with his grandmother-in-law, lost their lives in a car collision.
Determined to connect with his late father, Rossell eventually learned to play the guitar, fulfilling his dad’s wish.
As a father himself now, he performed his tearjerking song as a personal letter of love to his late dad.
Rossell’s incredible voice, infused with a country twang and brimming with soul and passion, captivated everyone in the room.
As he sang the last words and strummed the final chord, the room fell silent before erupting into cheers and a standing ovation.
