The morning commute can be a grueling one. Between the temperature of the train car being either too hot or too cold without fail, the rush of people bumping into you, and the endless delays, there’s usually nothing, in particular, to look forward to or anything to make you smile.

However, on the rare occasion, something happens that will last in your memory forever. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not, and sometimes it’s absolutely extraordinary.

Something that’s not all too out of the ordinary is to see a busker – a musician – playing in a station in the hopes they’ll make some tips. Sometimes you’ll see a singer/songwriter performing with their guitar, or a saxophone player serenading the folks passing by. Occasionally, you’ll see a drummer with their kit giving you samples of jazz riffs or rock and roll beats with flair.

One day in a train station in Bulgaria, commuters got more than they bargained for on their morning commute.

When one drummer started playing a beat, some people stopped to watch his performance. A couple of children even came forward to tip him, as is customary in this situation.

However, when a clarinet player came up and started to trill on one note, a few more people stopped in their tracks. This is quite out of the ordinary.

Then, an oboe joins in. After that, a flutist joins the show.

Little did the commuters know that they were about to experience a full orchestral performance!

One by one, sections of the Classic FM Orchestra arrive on the scene to contribute their part. Very quickly, it becomes clear that the tune they’re performing is “Mission Impossible,” a modern American Standard, a piece that’s a thrill for people of any nationality or upbringing to hear. Especially in this environment!

As soon as all the musicians have made their way upstairs, down escalators, and off of incoming trains, the conductor, Grigor Palikarov, arrives on the scene and leads his orchestra with great precision. As always, it seems like he might be the most excited of all! He’s as fun to watch as the rest of the musicians.

The cameras catch the reactions of dozens of onlookers, and they’re all priceless. From shock to pure joy, it’s clear to see that this flash mob is a true success.

Have you ever witnessed anything like this on your travels? I know that I’d absolutely love to have this disturbance in my morning commute, even if it made me late to my destination. I’m sure that my boss or my friends would understand that this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I simply couldn’t walk away from.

I’ll bet that by the end of this performance, there were a lot more tips in the drummer’s hat!

It’s safe to say that everyone who witnessed this performance will remember it for years to come. They’ll have quite the story to tell at dinner parties, that’s for sure. Would you believe your friend if they told you they’d been bombarded with an impromptu performance of the theme from “Mission Impossible?”
