Adorable little girl loves dancing with her friends – can’t stop laughing on stage

February 13th, 2020

If you’re a parent who has ever had a child in dance class, you undoubtedly remember their first dance recital – and it was almost certainly just a little bit funny.

At young ages, kids can’t really remember or execute that much choreography, so it’s more about showing off the few things they can do, amusing parents, providing them a chance to get used to being on stage, and giving the rest of us adorable videos to watch.

Some tiny dancers can start classes as young as 2 years old. That may sound intense, but it’s often a way of keeping them occupied and helping them work on their coordination, attention, and even social skills.

Often, the youngest dancers end up in classes with slightly older students if there’s no one else their age at the school. And that seems to be the case in a performance posted to YouTube back in 2013 – one that’s earned over 200,000 views.

The recital took place at the Academy of Dance Arts facility in Pleasantville, New York.

Individual classes often have their own performances and it appears that the academy’s Tuesday ballet class had just 3 little girls in it – two 4-year-olds and a 2-year-old.

As the trio took the Yorktown Stage in late Spring that year, they showed off their skills while dancing to “A Spoon Full of Sugar,” the classic song from Disney’s Mary Poppins. And boy are they cute!

It appears a parent is filming from the audience and the video starts out with a few giggles as the girls take the stage in their adorable outfits.

With the youngest student in the middle, the girls do a little shimmying from side to side in their polka dot and striped tutus (much of children’s dance at this level is about getting to wear an awesome costume!).

When the “medicine go[es] down” so do the girls – and our 2-year old seems to be having the most fun with a huge smile spread across her face. There’s no nervousness here!

As the girls pretend to be robins, flapping their arms, her infectious smile comes out once again. Has anyone ever had this much fun at a dance recital at this age?

And while the audience is charmed, her dance mates are much more serious about getting their choreography correct.

As with most performances involving children so young, the girls do get an assist from their teacher and their attention is divided between her and the audience for a moment.

She appears to just be moving them farther back onto the stage for safety and things get back on track pretty quickly – but the audience can’t mask their giggles at this point.

To be honest, their synchronization – especially halfway in – is pretty impressive for their ages! That is until our little one decides there’s just too much space between her and her friends and that she’d like to move over a bit to be closer, seemingly pushing the whole performance to the side of the stage.

But a hilarious little nudge from her dance partner gets her back in line as the audience cracks up.

An adorable moment when the girls begin to sing sends the 2-year-old over the top.

She’s having so much fun she wants an on-stage hug DURING the routine!

As the performance winds down, the audience got everything they needed – and the girls did an excellent job, especially for their ages!
