By this point in time, if you don’t know who Michael Ketterer is, are you even paying attention to TV right now?

America’s Got Talent came back for season 13 at the beginning of summer and it still going strong as we roll into fall. One of the standouts of this season is Michael Ketterer.

His is an adolescent mental health professional and a father of six. To make him even more of an angel among men, he adopted many of his children right out of the foster care system. This all happened after his daughter had a dream about their family growing.

Now you can see why America has been rooting for him! But on top of being an amazing guy, Michael also has an incredible voice.

Just one week ago Michael managed to make the normally stoic Simon Cowell cry! That is no easy feat.

For his second live performance and third performance overall on AGT, Michael decided to sing an old Miley Cyrus hit (no, nothing from her Hannah Montana days).

He picked the emotional song “When I Look At You” which is from the soundtrack to the movie The Last Song.

After he was finished performing, host Tyra Banks joined Michael on stage and asked Simon what he thought.

“Just when I think you can’t be any nicer, then I see what you do at work, you’re an extraordinary human being. Um, I’m going to send a shout out right now to someone. And that person is Garth Brooks, Garth if you’re watching the show, please write Michael a song for the final. I just have this feeling about you two having this connection.”

Simon finished by saying that he really hopes that Garth Brooks gets his message and that Michael makes it into the finals.

The reason that Simon wanted Garth to write a song for Michael is that he thinks it would be a killer performance and something that could make all of Michael’s dreams come true.

Seeing as Michael is Simon’s Golden Buzzer, it comes as no surprise that Michael loves him so much. But all of the other judges also are obsessed with Michael.

Mel B was crying again after this performance (as she did from his first live performance).

“You really touch my everything. It’s like you’re talking to me, you’re singing to me, I really related to you. I love what you do for the mental health. I suffer from that too, so I like you really just connect. I really want you to go through because I have to hear that voice again.”

Heidi Klum praised Michael because she feels like every time they see him, he comes back even better than before.

Howie Mandel told Michael that America deserves to be listening to Michael far beyond the show because he believes that Michael is an amazing person.

Now, if you haven’t really been keeping up with America’s Got Talent this season, you might have missed Michael’s audition.

He earned Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, which is pretty highly coveted, seeing as the judge can be a very tough critic. But Simon absolutely loved him!

After his audition, Michael went straight from that round to the Live shows, completely skipping the Judges’ Cut round.

For his second performance on America’s Got Talent, Michael sang “Us” by James Bay and it was so powerful and moving, Simon Cowell actually cried when he was done.
