Without a doubt, Michael Bublé is one of the most famous and beloved singers out right now.
To date, he has sold more than 75 million records around the world and has won four Grammy Awards.
Although his musical career started in 2000, Bublé has managed to stay relevant throughout the years by staying true to his powerful, old-fashioned voice, and by being a generally good person to his fans throughout the years.
As it turns out, though, Bublé has a secretly spontaneous side that not everybody knows about.
This all came to light on a special segment show for BBC Music in the United Kingdom.
Although Bublé is instantly recognizable most places that he goes, the show’s producers decided they would put him in full undercover make up and see if he could get a job working at a diamond seller as a sales associate.
Right from the beginning, it’s clear that Bublé couldn’t be happier to be pulling this secret prank. “This is like my dream come true,” he says.
Before long, a team of make up artists are adorning his face with powders and prosthetics.
After a little more application (and after putting a man bun on top), Bublé shocks the producer with his transformation!
As the two sit down together, Bublé explains that he has an entire character that he’s come up with to enhance the disguise.
He will play a South African man named Dion, after one of his own dear friends of the same name and ethnicity. As it turns out, Bublé does a pretty good South African accent!
When it’s all over, he sets off to go to his first day on the job.
As he walks into the diamond sales store, nobody suspects anything!
Before long, David is paired up with a senior sales guy named David. As Bublé (in character) explains to David, he’s a little bit nervous because it’s his first day.
All David does is tells him to relax, at which point Bublé gives him a huge hug! Needless to say, the disguise is off to a great start from the very beginning.
After that, they walk over to a television set that’s sitting in a corner of the showroom.
Bublé inspects the television and it turns out to be a karaoke machine—all while David tries to pull him away!
“Is it live?” Bublé asks, firing up the machine. David is a little confused and unsure what to do, though he stands watching as Bublé fires up the machine to play a version of “Feeling Good,” a song that Bublé himself has famously covered. After a moment, he starts belting the song and David gets a huge smile on his face.
After the song is ends, David knows exactly what’s going on!
The clip continues with Bublé fooling another group of customers.
He starts by making fun of Michael Bublé to see how the crowd will react, though everyone leaps to his defense! Before long, he moves them over to the karaoke machine once again. After a minute, he starts singing his own song again—and the crowd can’t believe what they’re hearing!
Throughout the video, it’s clear the person having the most fun is Michael Bublé.
Although there are plenty of disguised musician videos around the internet, this is one of the funnier ones we’ve seen.
Although Bublé is a talented singer, we had no idea he was such a talented impressionist as well. If we’ve learned anything from this experience, it’s that we’re going to be very wary of any strange looking characters the next time we’re in a shopping mall on a showroom floor.
Congratulations to BBC Music for pulling this prank off so well! Check out the full video below:
