Michael Bublé Had A Scat Contest With James Corden's Dad
Though we've seen a lot of things on Carpool Karaoke, the part with James Corden's dad is adorable and hilarious!

There aren’t very many old-school crooners out there on the music scene today.

Back in the 1950s and 1960s, one of the coolest styles of music out there was the deep, masculine singing style of people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

Still, the tradition hasn’t completely died out because there are still performers like Michael Bublé keeping it alive. For anyone who doesn’t know, Bublé is a hugely successful singer who has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide.

For those reasons and others, James Corden thought that he would be a great guest on Carpool Karaoke.

As many people probably know, Carpool Karaoke with Corden is more or less a worldwide phenomenon at this point.

Though it started off as a simple segment on The Late Late Show, it has since come to develop a life of its own through the clips that have been posted on YouTube and other places on the internet.

While it’s always great to see huge performers sing live in a more intimate environment where they can get a little silly, almost all of these segments end up having a twist in them that make them even more interesting.

The Bublé edition was definitely one of these occasions.

As one might expect, the session started off with the two of them singing along to “Haven’t Met You Yet.”

Right off the bat, the two of them definitely have good chemistry and are enjoying themselves! As always, Bublé’s singing voice is awesome! Shortly after that, they’re immediately talking about how Bublé has lost weight and slimmed down.

Although they have some fun banter about it, Bublé ultimately says that he doesn’t care much about how he looks because he has a beautiful wife who loves him no matter what.

With that out of the way, it’s on to more songs.

Before long, they’re stopping at La Brea Bakery to get some coffee—and they drive off without paying!

Shortly after that, Corden tells Bublé that he needs to pick up his dad, Malcolm. The funny thing, however, is that Malcolm gets in the car with a jazz saxophone—and before long the two of them are having a scat battle.

Though there have been all kinds of spontaneous musical performance on the show before, this is definitely one of the best ones we’ve ever seen.

By the end everyone is cheering and clapping!

At the very end of the segment, things get a little more intimate and serious.

The conversation gradually turns to Bublé’s son Noah and how he was diagnosed with cancer when he was only three years old. Though it goes without saying, Bublé was utterly destroyed by hearing the news. As he explains, the family took it day by day and many of his other family members pulled their kids out of school to spend more time together. Though the diagnosis was terrible, their son pulled through chemotherapy and treatment—even though it was so hard on the family.

Needless to say, the conversation gets very serious and nearly tearful at the end.

At the end, Bublé gives a shout out to Stand Up To Cancer in honor of his son—and at the end the two men share a hug.

Although all of the episodes of Carpool Karaoke are great, this one is particularly special. These two have so much fun together before getting so serious and heartfelt at the end. Although Bublé’s story could’ve had an unhappy ending, things ended up working out thanks to great doctors and a ton of love. With his family’s support, they all pulled through—and you can hear it in his voice in the last song.

Thanks to Michael Bublé for being so open and for fighting against cancer for kids around the world! Watch the full performance below:
