When it comes to iconic bands, it doesn’t get any bigger than Metallica. In this live show from 1991, the legendary band plays in front of one of the biggest crowds of all time, and the entire sea of rock and roll lovers goes crazy to their performance of “Enter Sandman.”

I really can’t believe how many people attended this concert!

1.6 million dedicated rock fans converged to Moscow in 1991 to watch Metallica play for one of the most epic shows of all time.

After forming in 1981, Metallica became one of the most popular bands in the history of rock and roll. Ten years after they became a band, they played a show that music lovers everywhere will never forget.

It was like a scene out of a movie when Metallica stepped on the stage at the Monsters Of Rock festival in Moscow, Russia.

At the beginning of the video, you can see all the rabid fans going wild as they band begins to play “Enter Sandman.”

Only two other bands have played a bigger show than this.

One of those was Rod Stewart’s concert in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 1994, which had 3.5 million people. The other one was Jean Michael Jarre in 1997, which also had 3.5 million people.

You can even see members of the Russian military rocking out to “Enter Sandman,” and as always, Metallica completely owns the stage.

Everything about this show just screams rock and roll! From the intense headbanging to the raging moshpit, no one plays a better show than Metallica.

The entire performance is filled with gnarly guitar riffs and an energy that no other band can match.

Every single band member is extremely exciting to watch live, and they all have the classic rock and roll hairdos that are perfect for swinging around.

According to Country Economy, just over 69.6 million people were living in Russia in 1991.

So to put that in perspective, about 1/69th of their population attended the concert! I bet every single one of them was totally satisfied with the awesome show, but then again, who wouldn’t be? Even 20 years later, the internet can’t get enough of this ginormous Metallica concert. If you thought 1.6 million was a lot of people to attend a concert, just wait until you see how many people viewed the video.
