“Amazing Grace” is a very famous song loved by many people around the world.
It was written a long time ago in 1772 by John Newton, who used to trade slaves but changed his ways after surviving a dangerous shipwreck.
He became a Christian and worked hard to stop slavery.
Meet Dan Vasc.
Daniel Vasconcelos, known as Dan Vasc on YouTube, is a heavy metal singer and songwriter from Brazil.
He’s part of a band called Fearless and has released an album called “Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom” and an EP named “Ancient Wisdom.”
On YouTube, he’s famous for covering songs, and turning non-metal tracks into metal versions.
His love for music began early, inspired by bands like Petra, Avantasia, and Dragonforce.
He admired singers like Fabio Lione and Michael Kiske, so he studied singing, piano, music theory, and composition.
Fearless got attention worldwide with their EP, and Dan even sang on a metal album alongside actor Christopher Lee.
Despite struggles with record labels, Dan built a following on YouTube, releasing his album independently.
He also briefly joined a Finnish band called OD.
His musical influences span a wide range of singers and bands, guiding his singing style and compositions.
A heavy metal singer giving “Amazing Grace” a new flavor? How’s that possible?
Lots of people have sung this song in different ways, but there’s something special about how Dan Vasc, a singer known for heavy metal music, sang it.
He put his own twist on it and posted it on YouTube.
Even though heavy metal singing usually sounds rough and loud, Vasc’s version might surprise you.
At first, Vasc starts the song in a more typical way, showing off his strong and controlled singing voice.
Then, it gets more intense.
He adds unexpected things like a harmonica, raises the pitch of his voice, and even uses the loud, powerful singing style of heavy metal music.
It might seem strange, but many people who don’t usually like metal music found themselves enjoying his version of this classic hymn.
To no surprise, the video of his performance went viral.
Just seven months after it was uploaded on his YouTube channel, Vasc’s immaculate rendition of the song made rounds over the social media world.
As of this writing, the video has already amassed over 8 million views with hundreds of thousands of likes and tens of thousands of comments.
Tons of online viewers shared how Vasc’s version of the song moved them.
“Dan , I’m 70 yrs old, a very faithful Christian, I’ve heard this song sung a 101 ways but young man you made me hold my breath..a most beautiful and unusual rendition I’ve ever heard..Ill keep listening to it..waiting for your next miracle,” one YouTube user wrote.
Another one commented, “Man….I am speechless. I’m a classically trained pianist with deep Southern Gospel roots. I’ve played Amazing Grace hundreds of times for worship services over the decades. You are absolutely incredible, bro. I watched this at work the other night at 3am and I was moved to tears, man….and moving me to tears is no easy task. Usually my music is moving others to tears. Thank you for this. Your talent is unmatched. God bless you brother!”
We couldn’t agree more, Vasc’s version of “Amazing Grace” is really something else.
It will give you both the chills and the feels.
