Any heavy metal lover knows you can’t really have metal without distortion.

That’s what makes this YouTube video titled “Metal Without Distortion” so funny. The musician goes through famous songs by playing the guitar parts faithfully, all while cracking jokes about the fact that there’s no distortion.

Even without the distortion, the riffs he manages to get off are super impressive!

YouTuber Paranormal Guitar broke the internet with this video back in 2016.

The sensational guitar player has a YouTube channel called Paranormal Guitar Channel with 158,000 subscribers and counting. In this particular video, he gets right to it by jumping into his highly skilled riffs on the electric guitar.

He starts off with Slayer’s song, “Angel Of Death,” only without the distortion. The song sounds completely different, and the musician makes fun of the blandness of the guitar without the distortion.

The talented guitar player switches from Slayer to Pantera, still only playing the guitar parts without distortion.

Still, he manages to add some comedy throughout the show as well. When he starts playing “Raining Blood” by Slayer, the camera switches to him hilariously plopping a glob of ketchup onto a sandwich while making a funny face—and he has “(also ketchup)” after the song title.

After playing some Pantera and Slayer, Paranormal Guitar changes to some Megadeth, all while mocking the way it sounds without the distortion on the guitar.

His fingers rapidly move up and down the neck of the guitar as he gets into Megadeth’s “Symphony of Destruction.”

After flawlessly playing the popular Megadeth song, he plays Cannibal Corpse’s “Hammer Smashed Face.” Each song sounds like a totally different tune, though either way, the speed at which the riffs are strummed is mind-boggling!

He next plays the chords from the famous Metallica song, “Jump into the Fire,” followed by the very popular “Enter Sandman.” The hilarious caption “okay…” and “Exit Glasswomen,” come up at the bottom of the screen just for fun.

Throughout the whole performance, the musician plays amazing guitar riffs with funny faces and captions to lighten the video up. He must moonlight as a comedian because he had us cracking up from start to finish!

“One day in the far future, students of “ancient” music will discover the sheet music for these songs but have no clue about the distortion effects (or, perhaps, the whole “electric” thing). There will be serious, highbrow festivals that sound a lot like this, and “metal-heads” will look down their noses at those that dare to insult the classics with such embellishments.” One YouTuber said jokingly.

“I was so disappointed when getting my first guitar and amp. Everything sound like this clip. I even got hostile towards the music shop dude (I was 12), until he pushed the distortion button.” Said another YouTube user.
