There are many different types of dances in the world. Some, just about anybody with an ounce of rhythm can do. Others, however, take a bit of practice. In fact, many years of practice.
Whether your style is hip-hop, ballroom, ballet, tap, or otherwise, it’s easy to appreciate all of them, especially if you have tried them.
One style of dance that is highly respected because of its intensity and deep history, is flamenco. Although its exact origins are unknown, the oldest record of flamenco music stretches all the way back to 1774.
Its influence is felt everywhere. In fact, it has become especially popular in Japan where there are more flamenco academies there than there are in Spain. Though there are different forms of flamenco dances today, it’s safe to say that flamenco fusion dances have become more common than ever before.
But there are certain techniques that remain, such as lightning-fast footwork, emotion, foot-stomping, control, and precision. Also, the use of the upper body is very important as well.
Seven young men called, Los Vivancos, took to the stage to perform their own rendition of flamenco dancing. Though it isn’t traditional, it is a fusion of flamenco and other influences. But it might not have been their dance moves that caught the attention of viewers.
Los Vivancos is a flamenco dance group that performs shirtless.
In nothing more than blue jeans and black stepping shoes, their mission is to bring the heat. In a tasteful way, of course. But we must say, that’s what makes their routines even more unique.
Still, they definitely have the moves to get the job done. They move their feet at incredible speed. They are also able to keep things tight and precise. It doesn’t sound like any of them fall behind which is a feat in and of itself (no pun intended!).
Throughout the performance, they include steps from ballet and even gymnastics.
They leap into the air and spin in numerous circles that undoubtedly prove that these guys might have training in other forms of dance.
They perform intricate choreography the entire time.
So easily do they break formation to perform individual dances and fall back in line to continue their planned steps.
If all of these things were not enough to keep your attention, the stage lights sure might. They flash various colors of red, blue, and white just as intensely as the men dance. There’s even a live backing band which only adds to the spectacle.
When they finish their set, and it’s one heck of a finish, members of the audience give them a standing ovation.
Notably, everyone standing is a woman. Which only affirm that the group did their job.
