When British artist Luke Jerram installed the first subway piano, he started a revolution for amateur musicians all across the country. These musicians delight crowds with rousing and entertaining performances of the hottest piano tunes and jingles. But few performances were as well loved as one by two men dressed as police officers.
It’s a great day to be at the mall, especially when these two showed up
Just imagine sitting around at a mall when you see two men sauntering towards a piano. The men don’t look to be in a rush and have the serious decorum befitting officers of the law. It’s just business as usual, or is it?
Because the officers then pause at a piano just lying in the center of the wide walkway. One of the men leans over to test a few keys. When he hears those tuned tones he takes a seat and begins to play a lively jingle.
Don’t think this is a one man show because…
As the first officer plays, the other looks around at the gathering crowd. At first it doesn’t look like he’s going to participate, but the allure of the piano strikes him hard.
He turns around and plays a fast paced accompaniment to the first officer’s jingle. The men work together like a mirror of one another. The older looking officer playing a steadier tune while the other practically slaps the keys to add musical high notes.

A crowd gathers to watch the show. Many have their phones and cameras out to catch every moment of the action. Some even bring their cameras down low to check out the fancy finger work that is such an important part of livelier rock-and-roll melodies. Anyone who’s played a piano before will get warm flashbacks when they see what these two can do.
Speaking of warm receptions, check out how some of the younger onlookers begin to hop or dance. As the ragtime music surrounds them, they just can’t help but bop and dance to the beat. Makes you wonder if any of the adults wish they could just put down their bags and join the fun.
Every performance begins with the performers and these two have charm, personality, and star power
The highlight of the show comes when the two officers start switching places. When one rises, the other glides their fingers down the piano for that classic sound every piano fan knows and loves. These men never miss a beat and just go wild as the crowd swells. You can see nothing but smiles and it’s easy to see why.
Don’t forget to notice how the two men differ from one another. The younger officer turns towards the crowd to motion for them to watch. He whoops and hollers to rouse the crowd. Meanwhile, the younger officer is focused on the melody. He knows music will delight the crowd and leaves the crowd to his younger partner.

But then, the music comes to a close. The men play a final jingle that leaves the audience cheering and applauding. The two officers accept their praise and react in a way that you might not expect.
They just walk away, hands folded behind their back as if nothing had happened. What a way to steal the show!
