Some young men would be embarrassed to be seen with mother in public, it’s just the way kids are at that age. However, Jamie is not ashamed at all of his mother. In fact, he’s so proud to appear on a national stage with her, hand-in-hand.
After their initial audition for The X Factor, the judges were so incredibly touched to see these two get up on stage together. Even though they hadn’t been singing together for very long at all – just a few weeks – they stunned the judges with their natural talent and angelic blend.
Seeing these two all dressed up and ready to perform already gets you excited to see what they’ll pull out of their pockets next.
When Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” starts to play, you know it’s going to be an emotional performance. This is the kind of song that can bring a tear or two to your eye in a matter of seconds if sung by the right people.
Mel and Jamie are those people!
The way that these two look into each other’s eyes shows you what unconditional love truly is! There’s no doubt that Mel would support her son in any of his endeavors, and that Jamie would never take the normal teen boy route and be ashamed of his mother. What a great thing to see!
There’s not a moment during this whole performance that leaves you wanting. Their voices are so pure, and since they are mother and son, they blend together so well that it almost sounds like one voice.
There’s also no moment when one voice overshadows the other. They’re both completely willing to step back and let the other take the lead at different points in the song. There are no divas here! They make such a wonderful team.
The judges are just as smitten as the first time they heard these two sing. Simon’s only comment is that he’s not too keen on their song choice. He thinks it’s a little too predictable. In the past, Simon has sent people home for choosing the wrong song, but not this time. He can’t wait to see how they improve the next time around. Now that’s how you know that these two are good… if they can make a good impression on Simon even with a subpar song choice.
Have you ever seen something so precious? Even if you might think that this would be too kitschy or sentimental, you simply can’t deny that watching this mother and son duo tugs at your heartstrings and makes you feel all warm and snuggly inside.
It just makes you want to go home and call your loved ones to tell them just how much they mean to you.
What do you think of this performance? Do you think it was as strong as their last? Or were you expecting them to do better?
Do you think that they deserve to go on to the next round? Or do you think that they’re playing more on the novelty of the act rather than their talent and talent alone?
I think that they’re just superb!
