Dancing is good for the mind, body, and spirit – making it an excellent art form to engage in. Yet, for those of us who don’t, it’s still fun to watch from the sidelines.

Sean and Jessica both signed up to compete in the competition from Capital Swing Dancers that took place in Sacramento, California.

After their names were called, the pair embraced in the middle of the room for good luck. Incredibly, their performance would be all improv (which does not sound like an easy feat).

Everyone got a little taste of the style to expect once Sean and Jessica’s song began to play. It was Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” (featuring artist Bruno Mars)!

The track had everyone and their mothers grooving along to its boogie beat. So, it was exciting to see what two professional swing dancers were going to do with it.

They start by bopping along to the music and getting into the rhythm. But at the perfect moment, Sean spins and dips his partner – opening the floodgates for all that was to come.

Did someone turn on the heat? Because watching Sean and Jessica’s performance, it sure feels like it.

Together the duo moves like silk across the floor – shaking their hips, performing spins, and bringing both sexiness and humor to their dance.

Even the competitors in the background can’t help but cheer from their seats. It’s just that good.

Sean and Jessica were showing off their skills in a form of dance called West Coast Swing. The style stems from the iconic Lindy Hop, and a variety of music genres can be incorporated.

On YouTube, Capital Swing Dancers explained in the comments:

“It is West Coast Swing, a version of swing that has evolved with popular music trends over the years. It’s primarily danced to Blues, R&B, Funk, Pop, Jazz, and whatever floats the boat of the dancers at large.”

Watch them set the room ablaze with their fast-paced, yet fluid moves.

At one point, Sean even impresses the crowd by twirling Jessica multiple times in a row, like she’s a spinning top. It’s amazing that it was their first time performing the routine with how flawless it seems.

There is one time, however, where there’s a little hiccup. Sean goes to dip Jessica and she accidentally loses her balance slightly. But leave it to the pair to recover beautifully without it ruining the performance.

In the end, they earned both a standing ovation as well as the competition’s “crown.” Sean and Jessica were named first-place winners of the Champion Strictly Swing Division.

Surely the other competitors in the room also had awesome dances that were worth cheering for. But it’s obvious that Sean and Jessica have great chemistry out on the dance floor, and deserved to be awarded for their spicy performance.
