Marcus and Rasmus had a heck of a night at the Rock That Swing Festival.
This festival brings people from all over the planet under one roof to celebrate the era of the 20s to the 50s. They dress the part too. Bands are invited, the place is set up to look very much the part of that particular era, and the dancing is fantastic!
True to the style of those decades they are made up in, these two gentlemen take the dance floor in white button downs, short, colorful ties, and slacks down to the ankles exposing white socks. The hair though!
The Boogie boys!
The men exchange low fives. Marcus looks to be very cool while the younger Rasmus is loosening up his body with a few wiggling movements. The song is Big Al Downing’s “Georgia Slop” and it’s very catchy.
Marcus starts it off by walking like an old man with a cane except in fast forward. Rasmus watches his partner for a while before launching into the same moves himself. It doesn’t last long. Marcus gives Rasmus one look before launching into a snappy shuffling of his feet.
The jump rope!
It’s a dazzling display of footwork and impeccable timing. Marcus is the smoother of the two but Rasmus has that frenetic style that matches the mood and the music. The contrast works!
Most people are used to seeing a man and woman when talking about partners on the dance floor but these two guys are upping the ante on partner dancing. Even the audience knows it.
They spin and slide together, playing on each other’s energy and getting the crowd in to it. It’s not enough that these two are awesome dancers, they’re wonderful entertainers as well!
Is that the chicken?
They mirror each other, doing the same moves and yet because of those two different styles, the dance becomes such a fun ensemble of male energy that it gets you bouncing on your seat.
It’s boogie woogie but turned up to ten. Marcus and Rasmus took the playful improvisation of the dance and quite literally made it their own. They keep those smiles on their faces for the camera and there isn’t a bit of sweat on those foreheads.
One viewer commented,
“You see the age difference in dancing, but also the finesse when you have a little more years under your dancing shoes. Love it.”
Then it gets better.
It’s like they both downed a can of Red Bull.
Check out those feet. It almost seemed like they dared each other to take it up a notch. As if normal folk could do what they do. Boogie never looked so crazy and that’s a good thing!
The last few steps are just men having some fun. Marcus almost on the floor while Rasmus has his hands in the air as they both just dance their hearts out to the cheering onlookers. The song ends mid dance and it doesn’t even matter. There’s a manly hug!
That was pure fun. And that’s what the festival is all about. The best part is that it happens every February. So you can still catch Marcus and Rasmus in the next few years. Don’t forget to breathe!
