Although opera isn’t the main genre of music anymore, there are still some popular opera singers all over the world.

Of all of them, one of the most immediately recognizable has to be Andrea Bocelli. For those who don’t know, Bocelli is an Italian opera singer who is one of the most popular in the world.

While he has plenty of songs that showcase his beautiful voice, one of the most famous is “The Prayer,” a duet he did with Celine Dion. While the song is incredible, it’s definitely not all that easy to sing.

Fortunately, one performer was more than up to the challenge.

The singer we’re talking about who covered this song was Marcelito Pomoy.

Pomoy is a Filipino singer who was the winner of the second season of Pilipina’s Got Talent. He’s known particularly for his ability to sing in two different registers, namely in a soprano and a tenor.

Needless to say, that very unique talent comes in handy when singing a song like “The Prayer” that has two separate vocal parts to it. In the video we’re talking about, Pomoy went down to the Wish 107.5 radio station to show off his skills.

Still, nobody was prepared for how incredible his performance would be.

As mentioned, he decided to sing “The Prayer” beginning with Dion’s part.

From the very beginning, Pomoy’s performance of her part is nearly flawless and sounds exactly like Dion herself!

Even though her part is particularly high, Pomoy has no problem capturing all the notes and nuances. Towards the end of the first verse, the notes get even higher and more difficult. Still, the entire thing seems like a cinch for him

But after that is when things get interesting!

Once the first verse is over, Pomoy switches into singing Bocelli’s part in a different language—and he does it with no effort!

Even though Bocelli’s voice is so much deeper than Dion’s, Pomoy manages it without any difficulty at all. Even more impressive is that rather than doing one of these tones at a time, he actually switches seamlessly between each one back and forth over and over.

As the song keeps going, the deeper vocals get more and more powerful and Pomoy manages to pull them off without any effort at all! Although there’s definitely good covers of this song on the internet, few people can pull off both parts so smoothly.

Needless to say, Pomoy has a serious future in singing ahead of him if he can do this so easily!

At the very end of the song, Pomoy hits a few final powerful notes before bringing everything in for a slow close.

When it’s all over, Pomoy has to stretch his mouth out since the switching back and forth put so much strain on his vocal muscles! Although we’ve seen some great singing performances on YouTube over the years, there’s something particularly special about this one.

Even if we typically think that people have a voice that fits squarely in one range, Pomoy proves that that’s not always true. Still, taking on “The Prayer” is no easy task for anyone—the fact that he did it so easily really says something.

Congratulations to Marcelito Pomoy on the amazing performance! Be sure to watch the entire thing in the link below:
