Groceries, after all, are a weekly necessity.

Just add it to the list along with washing the dishes and folding the laundry. And while we might as well be set on auto-pilot for many of these activities, there is still an element of magic to be found in them every now and again.

Take these two shoppers in Alpharetta, Georgia for instance.

There amongst the salad dressings and canned beans, they shared a tender moment of spontaneity and improvisation.

In the video, shoppers gazed on and witnessed as two strangers burst out into beautiful song. Cassandra Turner Nelson was just minding her own business, shopping as usual, amusing herself with a pleasant melody. It wasn’t long before another shopper, Donnell Cross, noticed her voice and prompted her for an impromptu session in the aisle.

He asks if she’s familiar with “If This World Were Mine” by Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn. She warmly agrees, and an amazing duet commences.

Cross gathers himself for a moment before beginning the song, providing a truly soulful rendition.

Nelson soon joins in with a lovely harmony, helping round out the chorus. The couple projects their voices out into the store.

She continues, taking the reins on the next verse.

Her heartfelt contribution rings loud and clear as Cross takes the time to appreciate her voice. He is clearly pleased with her thoughtful and skilled delivery. As their energy builds, the crowd behind them grows—and one customer even travels down the aisle to get close enough to film the live concert!

This is all unbeknownst to Nelson, who finishes the duet with the final note only to be greeted by an excited round of applause.

Nelson uploaded the exchange to her Facebook, and since then it has enjoyed much viral success.

Thousands of fans have poured in, praising their performance as “real music.” She confided in an interview with the DailyMail:

“We can do this, bring R&B back. R&B gospel. If you listen to music these days its not real. ‘He (Cross) could really sing. It makes me sing even harder. Bring that R&B flavor back. Let’s go get this music.”

She admitted that when Cross approached her in the store that she was skeptical, initially thinking he wanted trouble. Although reluctant, the meeting turned out to be divine! Nelson has been singing since she was two-years-old, performing her first solo at age four. Daughter of gospel singer and preacher Norris Turner, she’s grown up with a soulful background.

Since this amazing encounter, she has not spoken to Cross. However, she remains amazed at the attention and outpour of love their grocery store duet has achieved.
