David Lap decided to transform his acoustic and electric guitar into several other instruments.

As you continue watching, you can see (and hear) that he gets pretty close to the sound of instruments you would never believe could be reproduced on a guitar: a koto, a cello, bagpipes…Lap’s not using pedals or any special effects to achieve that impressive similarity, he simply took some everyday objects and adjusted his guitar a bit. What objects? Keep on watching, you’ll laugh a lot.

This guy has a natural talent to impress you and crack you up at the same time.

The myriad of his witty videos earned him a well-deserved 554,000 YouTube subscribers. From playing bass with his feet to creating entertaining background sounds to some of the most popular emojis, you’ll find just about anything on his channel.

David simply has so much fun inventing some new techniques to play his instruments.

You can see that he enjoys the process of exploring the possibilities of an instrument. He’s not only great at playing guitar, he was also curious enough to hack the guitar’s abilities and now he has all those instruments in one. It’s what you get when you combine curiosity, imagination, hard work and talent. It all begins with him sitting in a room with an amplifier behind him (even though he’s not using, as he writes below the video). The goal was to get a clean sound.

As the video goes on, the picture and the name of the desired instrument appears in the corner of the screen, David takes his blue electric guitar and you suddenly hear the sound of the instrument you see on the screen.

But it’s still only a guitar—how is it possible we’re hearing bagpipes? The results are impressive and David’s guitar sounds like bagpipes. He later revealed that he used a coin as a picker, and it’s one of many moments when you don’t believe your eyes and ears.

Who knew that all sorts of sounds were possible with just six guitar strings?

As he continues to play, he puts a piece of rolled-up paper under the strings, and you suddenly hear a sound of Japanese tradition—a koto.

We loved that he had so much passion to properly learn koto. There must be hours and hours of practice behind this lovely video. But that’s not all. His guitar can imitate percussion sound, and with a little help of a pen, it becomes a violin or cello. When he wants a bass, sitar or banjo sound, David simply puts a piece of handkerchief under the strings. Who would have believed it’s such magic?

Since he posted the video, it has earned more than 10 million YouTube views.

That’s how much people have seen David’s skills in a year!

The video was uploaded in 2019, and it has since gone viral. We’re only thinking about one thing: what will Lap do next? Knowing him, it will be something completely unexpected.
