Aidan Martin is a British singer and songwriter who received his first big break after wowing the judges on the 2017 season of The X Factor.
After several battles with the law during his late teens and early 20s, Aidan set out on a quest to live a more honest life, hoping that his past mistakes would not define his future. Through all his trials and tribulations, one thing stuck with him—his love for music.
Deciding to leave his past behind, Aidan tried his luck with talent-based television.
What made Aidan stand out from his competitors was his ability to sing from his heart, opening himself up to all kinds of vulnerabilities.
As Aidan steps into the audition room, he explains to the judges that he will be singing a song that he wrote himself.
Judge Simon Cowell immediately asks the young man “Who dumped who?” Aidan tries to explain that it was a mutual decision, but it was still heartbreaking nevertheless. Simon immediately cuts in asking “But were you really the one who was dumped?” Aidan, with a large smile on his face, admits to being the dumpee in his prior relationship.
He goes on to claim that he would never go back to his previous love, a sentence that received quite the positive reaction from the other three judges.
Even before displaying any vocal talent, the judges already seem to be captivated by the young man’s sweet attitude.
Simon asks Aidan what he would want his ex to hear if they were able to watch his audition today. Aidan instantly responds with “That I’m not a joke.” He then goes on to sing his song “Punchline.”
When contestants have genuine personalities, we can only hope that their talent is as captivating as they are.
Well, luckily for us all, Aidan has the vocal skills to back it up.
With his strong lyrics and beautiful voice, Aidan gives a tear-jerking performance.
In addition to his powerful vocal skills, Aidan was able to sing from his heart, a quality that brought Judge Sharon Osbourne to tears. We can only help but wonder how Aidan’s ex is feeling right about now.
Aidan even received the ultimate sign of approval – a yes from the harsh judge himself, Simon Cowell.
You know it was a good performance when Simon Cowell is left with a smile. Judge Nicole Scherzinger even went so far as to say: “You’re not a joke. You’re a force to be reckoned with.”
Although Aidan did not go on to win his season of The X Factor, he is still making serious strides in his musical career.
Currently, Aidan is working his way to superstardom.
In the summer of 2020, Aidan signed a record deal with the major conglomerate Warner Music.
Today, fans can stream Aidan’s songs on streaming sites such as Spotify and SoundCloud.
In the year 2020, Aidan received 8.6 million streams on Spotify alone.
He had quite the rise to stardom! From bartending to sold-out shows, we can’t help but be happy for the young man’s accomplishments. If the past few years are any indicator, Aidan may very well be on his way to hit songs and full arenas.
