The 1992 single “Creep” is unquestionably Radiohead’s biggest hit.

And while the band grew weary of the song, their disdain was not shared by their fans or those who covered it.

Luckily, the song is still in the spotlight, and today we’re hearing Eagleson’s acoustic cover of the much-beloved “Creep.”

As Thom Yorke described the lyrics himself:

“It’s a song about being in love with someone, but not feeling good enough.”

Creep was Radiohead’s debut single.

It came out in 1992 on their debut studio album Pablo Honey, but nothing happened until its re-release in 1993. That’s when it became a worldwide hit. It’s funny just how much the audience loved that one song—it was the only one the crowd requested at concerts!

Band members eventually refused to perform it live for quite some time, because they didn’t want to be defined by the song and they felt like it set narrow expectations of their music.

“Creep” became an alternative rock anthem worldwide, and it has been covered by several musicians over time including Prince, Kelly Clarkson, Frank Bennett, Postmodern Jukebox, Tears for Fears and Arlo Parks, to name a few.

Chase Eagleson became famous for his local, acoustic covers of popular songs.

It’s one of the best versions of “Creep” we’ve ever heard, and his angelic voice makes you listen to it all over again. The video was published in 2016 and Chase was 18 at the time. The fact that he’s had so much emotional depth at such a young age is beyond us!

The way he’s built up the song to the “run” part also gives a little bit of an opera singer’s vibe.

It’s such a phenomenal performance that would make Yorke completely fall in love with his song all over again. Keep up the good work Chase, we love your covers!
