Though there have been plenty of great performances on America’s Got Talent, sometimes the performers are faced with additional challenges.

In some cases, whoever is onstage auditioning had to overcome financial hardships, family challenges or just their own internal demons to make it onstage.

Though plenty of people have talent for performance, not all of them can master those elements to make it through to see their dreams fulfilled. On the other hand, sometimes the obstacles are external and they happen on the actual day—such as having to follow a bad audition that the judges didn’t like.

And that’s exactly what happened to this performer.

The person we’re talking about is Daniel Ferguson from America’s Got Talent in 2017.

Right as the clip begins, Ferguson knows that he’s following up a performance that didn’t go well… and that the judges probably aren’t in the best mood.

When he finally comes out, he introduces himself to the judges and explains that in normal life, he’s a sales representative for a bunch of radio stations in Ohio. After all is said and done, he even says that it’s the first time he has ever performed in front of an audience.

With that out of the way, the judges clear the way for him to perform.

Although Ferguson looks nervous, he takes a breath and steadies himself for what’s about to come.

Needless to say, nobody knows what to expect of Ferguson if it’s his first time performing. After taking a breath, the song “Cake By The Ocean” by DNCE starts playing.

Everyone thinks he’s going to start singing in a normal fashion… but instead, he immediately starts put on a bizarre voice as a big picture of Goofy displays in the background. Almost immediately, it becomes clear what’s going on.

He’s going to do musical impressions of all kinds of cartoon characters!

Right off the bat, his Goofy impression is pretty on point and the audience is on his side.

After just a few moments of that, he switches from Goofy into a pretty good Scooby Doo as well!

Although he was nervous before coming out, even Simon is smiling at what he’s managing to do onstage. After that, he transitions into a Kermit the Frog voice for the chorus. After that, it’s yet another smooth transition into Peter from Family Guy.

Though the crowd is on his side, everyone really goes wild when he switches into an impression of Simon Cowell out of nowhere!

By this point, Simon can’t help but to laugh.

After that, he switches into a higher register and even does a Mickey Mouse impression as well! When it’s finally over, the crowd has to give him a standing ovation. Although it was his first performance ever, he completely committed to his comedy and wowed the audience with his musical impressions.

Although most people definitely don’t have the confidence to pull off something this strange on the national stage, Ferguson came in and rocked the audience. Simon even thanks him personally at the end for brightening up his day. Needless to say, he gets his four yeses!

Congratulations to Daniel on his perfect breakout performance! Watch the full clip below:
