Each year country music fans look forward to seeing their favorite country music stars perform their favorite Christmas classics. The Country Music Associations (CMA) brings these artists together each year for a spectacular Christmas show.

This year’s CMA Country Christmas was hosted by Reba McEntire and featured artists like Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, and Little Big Town.

One of the stars that really lit up the winter-themed stage was Luke Bryan with his rendition of “O Holy Night.”

“O Holy Night” is one of the most beloved Christmas carols and was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to go along with the French poem “Minuit, chrétiens” or Midnight, Christians by the wine merchant and poet Placide Cappeau. The poem is about the birth of Jesus Christ and the redemption of humanity.

The priest of a Roquemaure church asked Cappeau to write a Christmas poem for his hometown parish after the church organ was renovated in 1843. It was first sung in 1847 by opera singer Emily Laurey. The song has changed over the years and is now different from the original poem.

It has been performed by all sorts of artists since then including Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and Celine Dion.

Bryan’s performance was just unbelievably gorgeous. Bryan started his career in the mid-2000s and was writing songs for high school friends Travis Tritt and Billy Currington when he released his first “Spring Break” album. He was signed with Capitol Nashville in 2007 and has since released several albums.

When Bryan took the stage the lights went dim on stage and turned blue and a bright full moon shown in the background as snow fell over beautiful evergreens. His voice was just exquisite and hit every beautiful note as an orchestra played around him.

Some even say that it was the best performance of the night.

“Oh my gosh!” said one YouTuber. “This was the BEST performance on the whole show, Luke Bryan. Spectacular job! Love it!”

The crowd at the event went absolutely wild as Bryan finished his song and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. The internet went wild over the performance as well. It’s got more than 100,000 views.
