Christmas music is rather polarizing.

Some people LOVE to listen every year, especially to their few favorite songs.

Other people HATE listening to the same old same old, year after year.

Well, your Spotify playlist may be giving you the boring old songs that you listened to last year, but a recently released video shows us that you can take on the classics with a wonderfully fresh spin.

Geoff Castellucci is a bass singer and arranger who releases some really interesting music.

On the scale of vocal range, most of us know what a “bass” or a “soprano” are by name, but rarely do we hear a true expert in that niche.

Few people are proper bassists so when we do hear one, it’s generally pretty shocking. Castellucci is what we call a “true bass” and his recent video is evidence enough!

Castellucci has released all sorts of videos over the years and loves to push his limits.

You may have heard him before from his two most famous videos, SIXTEEN TONS and FAR OVER THE MISTY MOUNTAINS COLD.

With his range, he is able to take songs that we all know (or fantasy-based ones that are sung by dwarves) and add a fresh new element to them.

It’s in that spirit that he released his rendition of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – it’s truly amazing.

When the video starts you realize that there are four singers, but only one singer?

That’s right, Castellucci has recorded himself four different times with audio and video to make it a four-part harmony!

His rich voice is immediately recognizable.

Bass is always great to listen to, especially with a song like this.

But, just wait until he gets to the :50 second mark – he really gets deep.

It’s truly crazy that a human voice can even get that deep! Alternating between a “regular” singing voice, it’s all the most jarring when he hits those super low notes randomly.

The four-part harmony really adds depth and dynamic to the song you wouldn’t normally expect.

One voice is great but being able to sing harmony, play off one another, and add depth to a song is what makes this rendition special.

As he swings about the song, his other “versions” of himself harmonize perfectly with him to create an experience similar to the world-famous Pentatonix, only deeper!

On top of the singing, the environment is really well-crafted.

When it comes to video, the background is important! Castellucci didn’t hold anything back when it came to his voice OR his set.

With alternating lighting illuminating and silhouetting him, the scene is cast in a blue-green hue.

What makes it so incredible is that he has four versions of himself on screen and the lighting isn’t causing blending issues when he layered the videos on top of one another!

Even if you don’t like Christmas music, you should check this video out.
