Getting married is a milestone that women dream about from the time they’re little girls. It’s rare to find a female who hasn’t spent countless, youthful hours planning the wedding day of her dreams.
Even if she won’t readily admit it, nearly every woman has an idea of what she’d like her wedding to be. Then, finally on the wedding day, the childhood dreams come true— but Kyrsten Greene’s father took her childhood dreams to a whole other level.
On September 29th, Kyrsten and her fiancé Chris Rowe celebrated their nuptials in Avalon, New Jersey.
The couple had met in Washington, DC., back in 2014 where, as their wedding website describes: “Chris was blown away by her friendliness, wit, and sarcasm.” After getting engaged a few years later, the couple planned a dazzling beachfront wedding, with a formal reception held at the Icona Gold Inn Ballroom.
The wedding was gorgeous, and everyone had a great time.
Little did Kyrsten know, however, her Dad had a surprise up his sleeve.
During the wedding reception, Kyrsten’s father, clad in Mickey Mouse gloves, makes a few announcements before turning nonchalantly to his daughter and asking:
“Oh, by the way Kyrsten, what is your favorite movie?”
Without any hesitation, she responds with The Little Mermaid.
At this point, he father leaves the room, as the couple moves and shifts to see where he is going.
A few seconds later, he comes back with Jodi Benson on his arm.
“Guess who I found hanging out by the sea,” he says.
As a super fan, Kyrsten cannot believe her eyes.
“Are you kidding me?” she asks her father, in total disbelief.
Jodi Benson is an actress and singer, most known for her role as Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Kyrsten’s father had somehow managed to get a hold of Jodi Benson and convince her to sing at his daughter’s wedding. Before we go any further, I’m nominating him for Dad of the Year, right here.
After a brief introduction, Jodi proceeds to sing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid movie.
Being a part of the wedding must be special for the singer. “The fact that [The Little Mermaid] has had such longevity is amazing,” she told USA Today.
“A Part of Your World” was written specifically for The Little Mermaid, however, it has now become Benson’s signature song. The power ballad expresses Ariel’s strong desire to be human and fit in with the regular world.
Since being uploaded online, the video has been viewed thousands of times.
It’s such an incredible surprise, and people just can’t get enough. Between Kyrsten’s reaction and Benson’s talent, the video is a winner all around. Comments include:
“I’m jealous that was SO awesome. I bet that made the bride’s childhood dreams come true.”
“You know she did the movie 30 years ago almost and she could still sing the song beautifully. Amazing!”
“So very talented. Who doesn’t want to take their little girl back to a childhood moment in time?”
